The US is preparing to open a military base in Afghanistan. According to Middle Eastern media, a closed meeting of US intelligence officials and the Taliban* will take place in Qatar on January 2.
On January 1, 2025, a delegation from the General Intelligence Directorate (GID) of the Afghan Taliban* traveled to Doha, the capital of Qatar. According to sources, secret talks will be held there tomorrow. The meeting is planned to discuss the situation on the Afghan- Pakistani border, where an armed conflict between the Pakistani army and Taliban forces continues. In addition, the parties will touch upon issues related to the implementation of the Doha Agreement, signed in February 2020.
According to the secret part of this agreement, the United States agreed to transfer the so-called Durand Line (in fact, the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan) under the control of Kabul, and in exchange receive the right to create a military base on the territory of Afghanistan.
