I was friends with Victor back in the mid-1980's...after his career was basically over.
He hung out at my place writing songs and trying to stay out of trouble... not very successfully at that point in his life.
One day, he said he wanted to show me his house way up north of the Bronx, so we jumped in a gypsy cab...ended up at a freaking mansion that, sadly, he was not allowed to enter. The mansion was now the home of his ex-wife Phylicia Ayers-Allen (now Phylicia Rashad who later played Clair Huxtable on The Cosby Show.)

Whe I lived in Chicago in the 70s, there was a fight at the corner tap and the windows got broken out. It was closed the next day. This guy wanted a beer, so he went across the street to the Blue Pub. It was a gay bar. Some guy grabbed his ass and he punched him out.
I heard the cops came and arrested him. When he got in front of the Judge, the Judge said, "I'm getting tired of you tough guys beating up the gays." and he gave him 30 days in the Cook County Jail.
