President Trump targeted America's DEI bureaucracy on Wednesday with a far-reaching executive order that appears to draw off Richard Hanania's "The Origins of Woke" and Jeremy Carl's "The Unprotected Class."
Trump's order, "Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity," revokes Lyndon Johnson's Executive Order 11246 which "requires affirmative action and prohibits federal contractors from discriminating on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin."
"Illegal DEI and DEIA policies not only violate the text and spirit of our longstanding Federal civil-rights laws, they also undermine our national unity, as they deny, discredit, and undermine the traditional American values of hard work, excellence, and individual achievement in favor of an unlawful, corrosive, and pernicious identity-based spoils system," Trump's order says.
