New York City went five days this week without any shooting victims. Its the longest the NYPD has seen since recording shooting victims over the last 30 years; now, the streak has ended.
At 10:15 p.m. Thursday, after a car crash, a 34-year-old man was shot in both of his legs in East New York. The victim is expected to be ok.
Then, early Friday morning, a 17-year-old was shot in the Soundview section of the Bronx.
A bullet hit the teen in his leg. He was rushed to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.
In a statement, the NYPD said,
This is the longest weve gone without a shooting victim since the beginning of the Compstat era and is a result of the brave work that the members of The NYPD do every day.
