US President Donald Trump is considering reducing his country's military contingent in Europe by 20% as he reviews Washingtons commitment to the continent, Italian news agency ANSA has reported, citing EU diplomatic sources.
If the pullout occurs, the number of US service personnel in Europe will decrease from around 100,000 to 80,000, the agency reported on Wednesday.
In recent conversations with European leaders Trump has consistently expressed a desire to downsize the US military presence on the continent, the sources said.
