Elon Musks Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has made headlines by cancelling $881 million worth of contracts with the U.S. Department of Education. This move includes the termination of 29 training grants focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion, which total $101 million. Also affected are 89 other contracts, impacting various research and operational projects. Despite these sweeping cuts, some key projects, such as the National Assessment of Educational Progress and the College Scorecard, have been spared. The administration believes that returning education oversight to the states would be more effective.
