National News See other National News Articles Title: DOJ Sues New York Over Law Blocking Immigration Enforcement The Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against New York over its sanctuary policies, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Wednesday. The lawsuit, filed in federal court, names Gov. Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James and DMV Commissioner Mark Schroeder as defendants. This is a new DOJ, Bondi said. New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops today. The lawsuit targets New Yorks Green Light Law, which allows illegal immigrants to obtain drivers licenses and restricts federal authorities from accessing DMV records. It also requires that illegal immigrants be notified if their records are requested by immigration officials, a policy the DOJ argues obstructs enforcement Poster Comment: If ICE deported a few thoudand inmates from state and county jails, the crime rate would go down, the stae would save money on prisons and save money on welfare, Medicaid and schools when they took their families with them. NY state and NYC have huge budget deficits. New York State and New York City are facing significant budget deficits. According to a report by State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, New York City's budget deficit could reach nearly $14 billion by 2027, more than double the amount projected by Mayor Eric Adams. For New York State, the projected deficit is $4.3 billion for fiscal year 2025, rising to $9.5 billion for fiscal year 2026 and $7.7 billion for fiscal year 2027.
