Gaza. (IDF) The three Israeli hostages released by Gaza terror groups on Saturday were quickly transported to emotional reunions with family members, with joy and excitement mingling with sorrow and pain. One hostage was told the name of his new daughter, born two months after he was abducted, and pronounced himself delighted. Another learned that his father had been slain on October 7, 2023. A brother of the third was still in captivity.

After being transferred to the Red Cross, Sagui Dekel-Chen, Sasha Troufanov, and Iair Horn, were handed over to Israel Defense Forces special forces who escorted them out of the Gaza Strip, to an IDF base near Re’im, where they were united with immediate family and underwent basic medical evaluations.

After determining that there was no need for urgent medical evacuations to nearby hospitals after 498 days held hostage by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the three hostages and their family members were airlifted by helicopter to the Sourasky and Sheba hospitals in central Israel, where they were to undergo observation and begin their rehabilitation.

‘Do you remember what you called her’ US-Israeli citizen Dekel-Chen, 36, was reunited with his wife Avital, who was seven months pregnant when he was taken hostage, his mother Neomit, who was also briefly captured by terrorists on October 7 before managing to escape, and his father Jonathan.

A video published by the military showed the embraces. “You are a champion,” Avital told him as she wept into his shoulder.

Are you happy a few hostages were released?

I don't think it is enough.

Hamas hates Palestinians. Israel will justly resume operations once they get their hostages back.

Yes, I'm happy. And I agree it's not enough. Israel still holds thousands.

Your words show that one Jew is worth more than a thousand Palestinian scum bags.

2 points on that: #1) Israel holds about 8000 Palestinians, far more than Hamas holds. So a proportionate ratio would be about 100 to 1.

And #2) Israel can go kidnap more Palestinians any time it wants, and in fact it already re-arrested one Palestinian within hours of being released as part of the cease fire exchange deal.

Let’s all be crystal clear. Netanyahu and Israel fully supported Hamas.

They channeled money to them.

Israel wanted to keep Hamas strong, to have a reason to reject a Palestinian state … but not too strong, so that they cannot attack Israel.

....

But did you also know that Hamas — which is an Arabic acronym for “Islamic Resistance Movement” — would probably not exist today were it not for the Jewish state? That the Israelis helped turn a bunch of fringe Palestinian Islamists in the late 1970s into one of the world’s most notorious militant groups? That Hamas is blowback?

This isn’t a conspiracy theory. Listen to former Israeli officials such as Brig. Gen. Yitzhak Segev, who was the Israeli military governor in Gaza in the early 1980s. Segev later told a New York Times reporter that he had helped finance the Palestinian Islamist movement as a “counterweight” to the secularists and leftists of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Fatah party, led by Yasser Arafat (who himself referred to Hamas as “a creature of Israel.”)

“The Israeli government gave me a budget,” the retired brigadier general confessed, “and the military government gives to the mosques.”

“Hamas, to my great regret, is Israel’s creation,” Avner Cohen, a former Israeli religious affairs official who worked in Gaza for more than two decades, told the Wall Street Journal in 2009. Back in the mid- 1980s, Cohen even wrote an official report to his superiors warning them not to play divide-and-rule in the Occupied Territories, by backing Palestinian Islamists against Palestinian secularists. “I … suggest focusing our efforts on finding ways to break up this monster before this reality jumps in our face,” he wrote.

https://www.irishtimes.com/world/middle-east/2023/12/12/buying-quiet- inside-the-israeli-plan-that-propped-up-hamas/

As far back as December 2012, Netanyahu told prominent Israeli journalist Dan Margalit that it was important to keep Hamas strong, as a counterweight to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. Margalit, in an interview, said Netanyahu told him that having two strong rivals, including Hamas, would lessen pressure on him to negotiate toward a Palestinian state.

The official in the prime minister’s office said Netanyahu never made this statement. But Netanyahu would articulate this idea to others over the years.

While Israeli military and intelligence leaders have acknowledged failings leading up to the Hamas attack, Netanyahu has refused to address such questions. And with a war waging in Gaza, a political reckoning for the man who has served as prime minister for 13 of the past 15 years, is, for the moment, on hold.

I don't hate the land either. It's the government of Israel that I hate because it advocates and carries out ethno-religious (pick one) supremacism.

Or maybe you think they aren't Jews but are Edomites like wack job watchman thinks.

I'm personally still unsure what "Jew" actually means. It seems to fluxuate between a religion and an ethnicity, depending on whether they are being attacked or attacking, respectively.

For example, if they are attacking it is because "Jew" means descendants of an ancient people and they are reclaiming their ancestral homeland. But on the other hand, if they are BEING attacked, "Jew" suddenly means persons of an innocent religious faith.

It's all a very convenient set of definitions.

It's all a very convenient set of definitions.

As always, you must understand the history of the entire situation.

This goes back to the Balfour Declaration of 1917 written by Lord Arthur Balfour, the British Foreign Secretary. This document promised the Jews a National Homeland in Palestine which at the time was an Ottoman area.

It was presented to the Zionist Organization of Great Britain and Ireland.

Arafat always said the problem in Palestine was the Zionists.

Palestine was a part of the British Mandate which was made up after the end of WW I. The Ottomans were on the losing side. ;)

Matthew 13:1-23 King James Version 13 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
