Recent social media posts and discussions have brought attention to the U.S. gold reserves at Fort Knox, last audited in 1974. Influential figures like Elon Musk and Senator Rand Paul have publicly expressed interest in verifying the status of these reserves, prompting a broader conversation about transparency and accountability in national asset management. Discussions from the Trump administration have also considered the possibility of an audit.

BREAKING: Senator Rand Paul is now calling for an audit on Fort Knox to ensure that the US gold is still there.

Worse, what happens when any bars found get drilled see how deep the gold goes in any given bar.

China has been accumulating as much gold as possible in an attempt to release a 20% gold backed Yuan.

Apparently, they drilled some of those gold bars and found some gold-plated bars of Tungsten.

If they can trace those bars back to where they were purchased it might be considered an act of war. ;)

Or maybe just payback for a country that sells bogus junk all the time.

They were reported to have been shipped from London.

I would weigh thr bars. If we are sure of the volume in metric, we can multiply by specific gravity to get the weight.

I think I'd still drill them from multiple axis.

I would weigh thr bars. If we are sure of the volume in metric, we can multiply by specific gravity to get the weight.

If it's done right, the average density of fake bars would equal the density of gold.

But other tests could be done, like electrical resistance, center of gravity measurements, and relatively simple vibration frequency tests (hit it with something and see what audio frequency it vibrates at) could be done.

I would weigh thr bars.

That is ignorant. It will not work. Mix a bit of Platinum with Tungsten, both are much cheaper than gold, and the specific gravity is identical to gold. Then coat it with a thin layer of gold and your test will prove it is a bar of pure gold.

When was the last time you checked the price of Platinum?

Spainards tossed tons of it in slag piles refining gold and silver.

Do you want us to go back and check those slag heaps and get the Platinum out of them? ;)

I walked around in jungle plenty when I was young and don't feel like going through any given conquistadores' notes looking for some creek in Guatemala.

The Spaniards were brutal in their conquest of central and South America. But Guatemala was not where they found gold. ;)

Every day I check the prices of gold, silver, and platinum. Gold is three times the price of platinum.
