The Federal Reserve took the gold from Ft. Knox as collateral on the U.S. debt. The gold is in the sub basement of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and is enough to fill three Olympic size swimming pools. They made a Die Hard movie about this.

The only gold in Ft. Knox now is the 90% pure gold from melted coins. ;)
