I saw a video of the crash. (Though it's a big question why anyone would be videoing this particular plane as it landed). The cause seemed to be a failure of the plane to flair just before landing, where the nose comes up slightly. This reduces the descent rate and also slows the plane's forward speed, allowing a gentle touchdown. This plane looked like it didn't flair so it hit the runway hard. It also may have been too high on approach but maybe not. Never seen this view.
They could either confirm or deny the gender of the pilots as female without revealing their names. That is, if their gender is known to Delta.
