Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is calling out New York officials for refusing to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in detaining an illegal immigrant accused of setting a woman on fire inside a subway station. Speaking in Coney Island, where the brutal crime occurred, Noem condemned city and state leadership for protecting the suspect rather than ensuring justice for the victim. According to Noem, the individual first entered the U.S. illegally in 2018, was deported under President Donald Trump, but later reentered and was living in New York for over a year.
