Gov't workers are 42.1% more expensive than their private sector counterparts, w/ benefit packages costing 83.6% more for gov't employees:

On average, public sector workers receive $57.70 per hour in total compensation compared to $40.60 for private sector employees. Of this, benefits make up a hefty $20.50 for government workers, compared to just $11.17 in the private sector.

Last time I had to renew my drivers license, I told the very large, very dark woman at the counter that I needed the real ID thingy. She had no idea what I was talking about. I took two other employees and two supervisors to figure it out.
