Water This stupid story goes to show how slow a news day it was yesterday and they still got it wrong... 1. A standard in GPM (Gallons per minute) measures VOLUME not PRESSURE which would be in PSI (pounds per square inch). 2. A showerhead that flows 2.5 GPM will exhaust the average water heater's (30-40 gallons) usable capacity in 10 to 15 minutes. I don't know about y'all, but I don't like cold showers, high water bills (3 cents a gallon in FW) or energy bills, and it would really put a crimp in my lifestyle to get Doc pissed off with ice-cold water towards the end of Sat/Sun Shower Time with Pacman & Kimmy. Pressure Volume Standards: The executive order eliminates restrictions that limited showerheads to a maximum flow rate of 2.5 gallons per minute. These standards were initially introduced during the Obama administration and reinstated under President Biden. From my reply at X about this stupid story:
I took a low-flow showerhead with a good spray pattern and filled the flow restrictor with marine epoxy and reduced the original 0.125" (1/8" orifice) to 0.0785" (#47 drill). It only flows something like 0.5gpm and works extremely well.
