SANITARY CLEANERS DIAL A-6365 1317 MAUMEE AVENUE FORT WAYNE 4, INDIANA
For all you nosey bastards, Sanitary Dry Cleaners was my maternal grandparents business until they died.
Orville Wendall Adler (Lutheran, not a joo) was a WWI vet. Anna Wilch was also a German that fled Germany during WWI and lost family on the way over from the flu.
Orville was involved in failed businesses including selling tires. Anna was an accomplished seamstress that used a foot pedal powered sewing machine until she died sometime after my father did (1976).
Orville had an International Harvester Travelall that he made deliveries with, built near where I currently live. He died in his sleep peacefully. I don't remember Anna's circumstance or why they weren't together at the time.
Sanitary Dry Cleaners became Rock's Body Shop. Rock bought the plant with a $5,000 bill. It was pre-1976 before my father died. Mom hid the bill in the kitchen cabinet above the sink on Kirkfield.
