Despite losing the Democratic primary for mayor of New York City, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo will be on the ballot in the November general election as an independent, multiple sources told USA TODAY.
A person familiar with Cuomo's decision said he would run as an independent, setting up a November throw-down for the liberal vote between the former governor, Democratic primary winner Zohran Mamdani and current Mayor Eric Adams, who is also running as an independent.
