Sen. cites U.S. government's own report denying WMDs. Blog Tools email EMAIL print PRINT 11 COMMENTS Sen Rick Santorum (R-Pa) and Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI) held a press conference yesterday to announce that weapons of mass destruction had been found in Iraq, only to have their claims flatly disavowed by the U.S. Department of Defense. Santorum and Hoekstra were talking about the degraded and inoperable remnants of Saddam's pre-1991 chemical weapons program that are turning up at various sites around Iraq. Their allegations are based on the U.S. government's own Iraq Survey Group. The very same report convinced President Bush that Iraq did not have WMD. The DOD flatly disavowed the Congressmen's WMD claims. ThinkProgress: "Fox News Jim Angle contacted the Defense Department who quickly disavowed Santorum and Hoekstras claims. A Defense Department official told Angle flatly that the munitions hyped by Santorum and Hoekstra are not the WMDs for which this country went to war. The "former Senator, formerly from Pennsylvania, as well as that embarrassment from the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, have formally had their respective pee-pees whacked by the DOD. What an absolutely breathtaking degree of desperation these wingnuts are exhibiting. My advice guys; save it for a week before the November election. With any kind of luck, these pathetic attempts may enjoy the luxury of NOT being fact checked. As we say up here in the UP, Wah! Posted by: chanceny on Jun 22, 2006 10:05 AM [Report this comment] Got to give the guy a thumbs up for trying soooo hard to justify and sanctimonously defend the completely invalidated and grossly manipulated intelligence that brought us into this hell that is no longer war, but an occupation gone deadly. May he keep speechifying, stuffing his flunky feet deeper down his perverted and hate spouting throat. Desperation becomes him. It brings out the yellow coloring from deep within his calcified heart and that suits him so well. Flailing about, trying to latch onto a 'timely' issue, highlights the hypocrisy that unseemingly oozes out of his obvious thin skin, giving him that special glow reminiscent of a proud, self-satisfied bigot. May this next election be a referendum against his digusting, divisive and completely mendacious self. The only weapons of mass destruction he will find are the lies he spouts and his own image reflected back at him from his mirror.
