It's repair the washing machine day here. The part (pump) got here late yesterday. Everything has to come out of the laundry/half bath to be able to move it for access to the back. The only thing left is to take the laundry table apart and get it out of the way. What a pain in the ass.

Fuck! THAT THING IS HEAVY! I have no idea how I managed to wheel it out into the garage to rebuild the bearings and seals 20+ years ago. It's gotta be around 400+ lbs (Four Kimmys). I don't recall separating the two halves back then. On the boat there were 75 of us to two small apartment sized stacked washer dryers, 40 of us had 2 days out of the week to wash cloths the water came out of ones 25 gallon per day allotment. We never ran with full fresh water holds because it caused a list to starboard. That 25 gallons of water per day was ones drinking, showering and cooking use. The joys of "haze gray and underway".
I'm a solid two hours into this. The new pump is in. I think I'm gonna leave it where it sets and leave the back off and run a load to make sure it's workin' and not leaking before I do anymore, I need a break anyway. It's gonna be a bitch getting it back into place and getting the dryer duct reconnected (Not a hose, a fixed duct). Apparently I used to be really good at making things hard to service back in the day when I installed them. I should get a job at GM Fort Wayne Assembly designing trucks. The mechanics in the field would love me. Maybe I'm just getting old and impatient. The belt looks OK, zero belt dust, but I should've gotten one anyway just to be safe. I'm gonna give this thing a whirl and see what happens. If everything works out, I should have my house unfucked by dinner time. You'd feel right at home in my little house. Teri got my good one in the divorce in 2014 and about gave it away for $129,000 as Obama's economy wore on. I'd have given the dumbass cash at that price, I had over a quarter mil in that joint making it handicap accessible for my mother and handicapped younger sister. It was also super-efficient. I spent a lot of time rejiggering that place. It would've been perfect for me and Kimmy. I think I got the washing machine, Ghost-Man. There was a little leak at the first drain cycle so I stopped it and reseated the drain hose at the outlet, that fixed it. The wash was dry as it's supposed to be at the end of the spin cycle. While it was running, I hooked up the old pump with a suicide cord on my kitchen counter and it seemed to be running nominally with no load. Under a load it might be a different story. The new pump was moving water like a firehose. I can't get to the standpipe with the laundry table and shelf in place. I just need to get everything back in its place now and open up the bar. I could not slide that machine back into place, it was stuck to the vinyl floor. I ended up spraying a little bit of WD-40 under the leveling legs and where I wanted it to go and it glided pretty easily after that. I had a hell of a time getting the dryer outlet aligned with the duct, but I finally got it. I hope I never have to do that again. I'm gonna be hurtin' tomorrow, for sure. (Edit) Hell, I'm hurtin' now. I'm gonna have to get into the painkillers tonight. We had three fire main pumps with 50 hp motors driving each of the pumps my coffin aka rack put my head within 2 feet of the number one fire main every now and then they would power up pump two or three and bring pump one offline it would wake me up every time.
WD-40 used on stuff that doesn't move but should, duct tape used stuff that does move but shouldn't.
This little pump is 120VAC 80W, probably less than 1/10th HP, but it moves water pretty good, I'd estimate 5+ GPM at a 3 foot lift. I'm half tempted to find my security bits and take it apart to see if I can figure out why the first one lasted 23 years and the second one only lasted two and a half, but my arthritic hands have had all the screwing (not the good kind) they can take and have better things to do other than to chase phantoms. I'll let it sit on the back of my work truck until I get tired of looking at it and throw it away. At least I earned my keep for the day. It sucks being all banged up and old. At least I'm getting some of the money back that Social Security stole from me over the years. Never thought I'd be around to do that. Wheee! Look at this, $901 off! ONLY $2,198 and 300 lbs. That Maytag Neptune Super Stack was pricey in 1999, probably less than half that. This thing is loaded with electronics, should be good for five years or so. Bonus Plan: It spies on me. Those "similar" 'Equator' units are all VERY small capacity, they probably wouldn't handle my bath towels, let alone any load I do. (Edit) Might get one for Sling Blade and the Squirt if he's got room for it. His house is very small <400 sqft. If he could make a hole, It'd save him a lot of money and time. Sign me up. Beam me up. I'm at the point when I uncover something I kept to do this or that with I say screw it I've got enough real projects and I don't need any more. You know it's going to be a hard finish when you go into lowes or home depot and ask where the pillow blocks are and the "associate" says a whaaa?

Grainger is where I usually went before they closed the Ft. Wayne store. The closest Grainger is in S. Bend, I think. There used to be Bearings Inc. downtown, I think they're long gone. I think Appliance Parts might still be around, according to Rainman, but the internet is better unless it's a damn emergency. I'm trying to think of the last 'damn emergency' that had me and Rainman at Appliance Parts. It's right there, but it's escaping me right this second. Lone Star Hardware walking distance and they'll know what I'm talking about and cut me a discount for buying six or more. I'd have to cross the bridge to get to Graingers or Sheinberg Tools they are both pricey catering to oil field workers with unlimited company credit card use. I've got a new in the box 6.5 hp horizontal shaft engine bought it in 2017 still haven't made up my mind what to do with it. Too damned old for that minibike I wanted to build 50 some years ago.
Patterson's Do It Best (HWI?), about 3 or four miles east of me in New Haven is the best I know of in the greater Ft. Wayne area. I know the family. While I don't have much need for stuff anymore, that's the go-to place. Everyone there really knows their jobs. You'd like them. I did the 6.5HP mini-bike thing probably 20 or so years ago with a Harbor Freight Honda knockoff motor. It about killed me. It came right up and out from under me when I gave it the gas. Sold it to the first sucker that came along. I always wanted a go kart when I was a kid but $200 was above my folks limit. 55 years after-the-fact I finally got my go kart in the form of my 2010 Clown Car (Smart ForTwo, 90k mi). It's got a 3 cyl 1,000cc motor and is surprisingly fast and fun (Kimmy hates it because it's so small). It's a great grocery getter. I've got way too much money in it getting it 100% mechanical, but Chip will probably be able to open a third shop after I have him look at why the exhaust is getting loud. Mercedes wants $800 for about any part, but I've had pretty good luck with finding new old stock or aftermarket parts, and Chip doesn't mind too much, but any fuck ups/defects are on my dime. About $150/eBay I'm thinking about having the body wrapped, but I'll have to get a round tuit to make that happen. Back in the later '70 there was a Suzuki branded mini suv that used a 2 stroke 3-cylinder engine don't recall the displacement never got a good look under the hood of it or the gal that drove it.
I always had a thing for small two-door cars & trucks. The first 4-door I ever bought was a 2007 Honda Fit wagon for my wife. She got rear ended by a semi at a light and the damage was pretty light, but their insurance company was jerking me around about the repairs and the litigation dragged on for a couple years or so. In the mean time I got her a new 2012(?) Fit. She still has that car, she loves it. When we were married she had horses and the flat load floor with the back seat down was great for carrying her tack and other horsey stuff. Eventually I got my way and I had Fox & Fox Frame Service do the repairs. They did a GREAT job, you couldn't tell it had been repaired except the VIN numbers on the glass and repair parts didn't match. That was the car I was killed in in Nov2013. I'll never forgive the Honda engineers for keeping me alive. I think I bought Marla a used 2014 Fit which she promptly totaled when she pulled into oncoming traffic. The airbags deployed, when that happens, the cars are scrapped. Nobody was hurt, but the asshole that hit her sued the shit out of me. TITS + TIRES = TROUBLE Sling Blade still has my little '93 GMC Sonoma, ~60k mi since his AWD Astro blew up a few years ago. I'd like to get that thing down the road, but it would screw up the Squirt's EBT. Chris just got a new 4-door Chevy Colorado P/U. That thing is huge for a mid-size. It dwarfs my Tacoma which dwarfs my Sonoma. I guess the BS EPA rules killed small P/Ups. Why We Can't Have Small Trucks Anymore - Blame the EPA When the North Shore Line ran up to Milwaukee, they were making AMC cars in Kenosha. ;)
