(WPTA) - Fort Waynes Community Development Department is proposing changes to the Downtown Dining District and the Riverfront Liquor License. The district was implemented in 2015, along with a special alcohol license for eligible businesses, in an attempt to stimulate the growth of downtown. Ten years later, they say data suggests that some of the restrictions put in place back then are no longer fitting. The proposal aims to address them: Businesses included in the district are currently required to be open a minimum of 300 days per year. The proposal will bring that number down to 210. You can check out the full resolution by clicking here. City Council President Russ Jehl (R-2nd District) says he supports the proposal and doesnt expect it to have any issues passing. This is what our community development professionals feel the thresholds should be, that continue to balance that need to make sure that its not too much of a party atmosphere. That its safe, that its family-friendly, but at the same time make sure that were not holding back fun businesses from opening up, Councilman Jehl said. The proposal will be introduced to the City Council on Tuesday, but wont be voted on until September. Poster Comment: Eh, me and Doc don't go out anymore. She doesn't like running into patients when not working and she doesn't want me shooting assholes anymore. I AM getting too old for jail. Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread
