Having just gotten back a short while ago from taking Dad to the doctor's office, I stopped in here, and then flipped around to a few other sites I visit from time to time to read or get a 'feel' for what the enemy or others are doing.

I used to belong to another website, which shall remain nameless, at least for the moment, along with many others here, which, in line with yet another website that has the feature, decided to have a BREAKING NEWS sidebar.

Many has been the time that this feature has been the downfall of posters. Matter of fact, one of our own here, Arator, met his demise thru this other sites' owner's irrational idea/concept of what BREAKING NEWS really is. Pffft! He was gone, although admittedly after more than one bout of hissing and spitting, with the usual bot bastards sticking in their 10 cents.

I would suggest that even, oibl, a gentleman whose sole reason for being was to get everyone's attention to money matters, would be able to tell you what does or does not earn entry to the BREAKING NEWS sidebar.

Or to be even more open, it's sort of like porn as described by S/C Justices--the old "you'll know it when you see it" routine.

This background/detail brings me to this: While 'surfing' just now, lo and behold in BREAKING NEWS is the very important and noteworthy article concerning where Kidman and Urban are spending their honeymoon!!!

Amazing!

But that isn't the half of it!

The poster was none other than the whining, demented, unfair, imbalanced owner of the site, one with a moniker the Three Bears know.

How powerfully important is it that everyone knows this couple's honeymoon plans? Arator, honey........on your worst day, you're 10 times the person that stupid broad is. And I say stupid purposely because she is too stupid to see her own stupidity!

Please, please, please Chrissie, Zip, and Neil.......don't NEVER EVER have a Breaking News sidebar! Not that our ladies would ever act this stupidly, but man alive, you can't say the same for a number of others.

As for you Arator, I used your name......and just wanted you to know that YOU DID NOTHING WRONG! That broad is as wacky as a ping pong ball during a drunken Chinese Ping Pong Tournament!

Several months ago, I think it was aristeides who was banned a week from LP for incorrectly posting to Breaking News.

I’ll never forget how caLoL was allowed to use the BN category for such hot button topics like Michael Jackson’s surgeries, the latest in fashion from France and assorted Zogby polls. She used this tactic to bury Iraqi war news. I knew I was done when the Golden-one let it stand.

when you've tied your identity to an idea or political party, and it is proven wrong, to attempt to continue the fraud crosses the threshold of insanity.

i would wager this is a trend taken from the news media, where the superficial and reports of box office reciepts for the latest insipid film are given high notice.

but at any rate, such behavior never refutes the critics of these types, it only validates their original thoughts on the matter.

perhaps some nice stew recipes and the daily weather report would be nice.

Breaking News is a concept whose time has never come - the latest post goes to the top of the heap and is, therefore, the breaking news of the moment. Period. That's just the way it is.

Breaking News and Duplicate Posts are such non-problems with me that I won't even write anymore about them, except to say that I have serious doubts about the mental prowess and emotional maturity of those who find them a hindrance to their internet experience and their daily lives.

It's the one (only?) item where JJ Browser had some correct insight. Defining "Breaking" was easy, it was defining "News" which is where the problem existed. It's quite subjective. I remember leaving BN strictly up to her management and did so gladly.

I agree BN is not a concept that can be defined globally. "Editor's Choice" would be a far better label.

LOL, well you have a point. The only problem with too many duplicate threads is that the overall discussion of the topic would probably be better if it was contained in one thread. But, I agree, it is mostly a non-issue. Since the goal is to get the message out, there are times when duplication seems almost necessary.

LOL, Neil............JJ Browser and 'correct' is an oxymoron.
