Twenty % + of the active population are authority followers, and will aggressively back whomever can identify themselves with the state, no matter how transparent their propaganda ("cut and run" comes to mind). Critical thinking is not high on the list for this group. If Dear Leaders commands it, it must be recieved wisdom.

It , according the Dean, is a quite well documented phenomana, and explains the rabid followers of many governmental fascists in the past and present.

I whitnessed this when I was a delegate to the Repub convention in Colorado Springs a few months ago. A group violently, expressed their support for a military based candidate, and his whole line was very fascist. True believers.

Dean was stating that this was a real social reality, and anyone trying to understand how human politics works, needed to be aware of it.
