The software has been updated to allow users to edit their own comments. Comments may be edited up to a certain time after they are first posted. Site administrators/owners can set this time limit as they see fit. Currently it is set to 60 minutes. Comments that have been edited are so notated, with a hyperlink to a page which should open up in a new browser window for you which displays the comment in it's original form (or forms in the event it's edited multiple times). There is no limit to how many times a comment may be edited (except for what you could manage in 60 minutes). Upon editing a comment, you will be shown how much time you have to save any changes, but clicking the edit link does not give any bonus editing time. So if you see you have 5 seconds left to save changes, you better type fast and not be on a dialup connection. The "Edit" links will vanish from the threads when editing time expires but it is of course possible to click on the "Edit" link on an outdated web page, in which case you'll be kindly informed that you are too late. Of course you can only edit your own comments. Articles may not be edited, only comments. If an article is deleted by the admins, then so will any edited comments with it. A few other miscellaneous changes were also done. When posting articles the URL field has been formally made optional, meaning you can leave it blank instead of putting in "none" or NA. Some minor formatting improvements have been made. The "Full Thread" link is now listed with all comments on the Latest Comments page instead of just the ones numbering over 40. Please let me know of any bugs. Thanks.

I have one suggestion, though. Might the "(This Comment Edited)" be shortened to "(Comment Edited)" or "(Edited)"? It would be less obtrusive that way.

I was surprised to see where the 'this comment edited' remark was. In my mind, I guess I was thinking that there would be a set of brackets with the word 'edit' inside it and that it would be right after the edited comment. Having the "Edited" link after the comment, on the same line with the "Reply" and "Trace" links would be my first preference, but I am a little concerned about how crowded it's getting there and thought it would be better to put it next to the comment number above. Space there is unused. If there's too much stuff on the "Reply" line it line wraps and that's kind of ugly, especially when it happens on every comment.
A few bugs fixed...
It might would work, regardless of 'crowding' if the word 'edit' or 'edited' was set off in color......maybe Chrissie's favorite purple--though plain, ordinary red would probably be better!
Neil, please check out Tommy's posted "article" entitled "what the ?" There maybe another bug that needs your attention... I think an "opportunist" gremlin glitch is now showing its mischievous face, perhaps as a result of your upgrading the edit function of your software. ( old physics law that goes something to the tune of with every action there's an opposite negative reaction) On 3 occasions today, Tommy and I have received error messages when we want to post a reply to a new article or to a recent posted message: "We're sorry, but this thread has been locked, and no further comments are being accepted." This glitch does not seem to come up if you are already logged on and after a few minutes have passed, you decide to post a reply. The error message comes up in the following process...when you are not logged in, then if you choose to post a reply at that point, after you are automatically taken to the log in page, and subsequently are taken back to the comment page that the error message appears "thread locked."
Testing... ...it works great, Neil. With this addition, yours is without a doubt the best forum software, bar none.

What shall that accomplish? I remember when taking my SAT for college entrance, that one of the primary rules of when you don't know an answer, give it your first guess. I think a poster's best responses are the first response .. not some sophomoric second chance at being critical or analytical or entertaining or deadly right on topic afterward. But, that's my input. As far as typos .. BFD. Get a spell checker.

Heya, Zip! Just driving by and adding my perspective. But, since your webmaster_designer has me on ignore, his fabulous work falls on deft ears. Neil doesn't like me, in case you didn't know. Then again, he is still attempting to create a method of communications interchange upon the Inet to make some bucks. The features he is adding are cool, I suppose. but are not required within the grand scheme of sensibility towards common communication goals; in fact, actually increase division.
