MOSCOW, August 29 (RIA Novosti) - The International Space Station will be dismantled after 2015 to be replaced with a new orbital station, a Russian Space Agency official said Tuesday.

"It is necessary because at present we can monitor less than 10% of Russian territory, but with a new station the coverage will be increased tenfold," said Vitaly Davydov, deputy head of the agency.

He said the new space station would be used to produce materials that are impossible to manufacture on Earth and to improve the methods of remote monitoring of the Earth.

Davydov also said Russia would test technologies for space travel to the Moon and Mars in 2015-2025.

"And after 2025 we are planning to start the preparation for interplanetary missions," he said, adding that international projects of such proportions should be implemented on the basis of equal participation and global partnership.

Russia plans to launch 30 satellites, probes to Mars, Venus

MOSCOW, August 29 (RIA Novosti) - Russia plans to orbit at least 30 telecom satellites and launch probes to Mars and Venus under the federal space program for 2006-2015, a Russian Space Agency official said Tuesday.

Vitaly Davydov, deputy head of the agency, said that a Mars probe would deliver soil samples from the planet, in addition to remotely sensing its surface. Another probe will study the surface and the atmosphere of the second solar planet, Venus.

The federal space program plans to launch about 30 fixed communication and broadcasting satellites, and more than 10 satellites for mobile service, he said.

Davydov also said Russia would create two meteorological systems based on of the Electro and Meteor geostationary satellites, which would become part of a satellite network operated by the World Meteorological Organization.

Russia is also planning to orbit Specter-M, Specter-RG and Specter-UF spacecraft, and launch a Coronas-Photon satellite to conduct extensive scientific research of outer space, he said.

"We are also planning to conduct a series of experiments with micro-gravity," Davydov said, adding that new unmanned spacecraft would be developed for this purpose.
