OK, I like Ghost of Quantril. He has a sort of Zen posting style. Pure hate without conscious thought cluttering up the expeience. He seems to achieve a state of pure mindlessness when he spews.

And signup for ping lists from Setup menu at the top. Select "Setup", then select "Subscription pings". Then scroll down and check the lists that interest you. If you don't see a ping list that interests you, start a new one!

ping lists are a handy way to alert many posters to a thread or post, w/o typing all their names.

Hello all. I'm fresh from LP. After posting there since 2002, I decided it was time to move on. The last straw was when Goldi banned Ari while doing nothing about those whose answer to everything was to have the government imprison and murder those who disagreed with them.

The term is an offshoot from an old Army nickname for the 31L MOS. They were called cable dogs because they ran copper communications cable in the field. Until recently I was a network engineer and dealt with fiber optic cable and optical transmission equipment. Since one of my jobs (at the time I made up the handle) was to supervise the installation of fiber optic cable, I thought it was an appropriate handle. Taking the "e" out of the word fiber was just my way of trying to make it unique.

have the government imprison and murder those who disagreed with them.

If the government decides to end all dissent, they will come here first, so you are in a bad place on that count.

As for freedom of speech and decent discussion, you are in the right place.

I'm not afraid of being put on any list. The members of Lp can put me on as many lists as they want. However, whenever I read those threats, it made me want to make threats of my own. As someone who is attempting to live his life as a Christian, I did not want to expose myself to the temptation of making a post I'd later be ashamed of.

Welcome on board. No Ratt Rigs to play with around here though. ;-)

That's what I hated about LP---that and the sheer incivility.

There is free speech here, and once you're accepted as a member by the gracious owners of this site, you have to make a real and conscious effort to get thrown off. But no one gets shown the door over his/her political opinions.

Zip and chris are like Horton in the Dr. Seuss tale: they say what they mean, and they mean what they say. And they are faithful to it---100%.

Well I wasn't a 31L but I spent six of my nine years in the Army as a 29J, so I dealt with them quite often. I am very familiar with rat rigs. As a 29J I had to fix enough of the durned things. Everything but the crypto gear that is. If I never see another rat rig in my life it will be too soon!

It used to not be that way. There was a time when Goldi would kick people off for acting in such a manner. IMO, she's allowed her own hate to consume her to the point that she agrees with the threats and would willingly hand people over to the government to be murdered.
