In Latin America you get exposed to the music culture, of course. Some of the music styles I find rupulsive. Not even sure what it's called, but one style consists of a primitive, dominating and unchanging drum beat through the whole thing. No melody to speak of. I guess it's geared toward the younger kids who have yet to understand real music. More advanced genre's exist in the class of Marc Antony, who's popular in Latin America. I find him and others of his class "okay", but I can't help but fall for Thalia is a major way. One of her tunes makes me think it would have fit very well in of the 70's rock category. ("Contando por un Sueno" or "Singing for a Dream" if anyone can find it). High energy but clean and lots of fun to listen too. Makes me think that the lack of tolerance for what kids listen too as we grow older has nothing to do with our age but rather a departure from the style we grew up with. Never heard of her until I got to Ecuador, but she's quite famous in the Latin world. Mexican born, extemely beautiful, wonderful voice... your typical highly talented female superstar. If she could sing in English like Shakira, I think she'd be kicking some serious butt here in the states. But I think Spanish singing has a unique charm of its own.
