How Could They Plant Bombs in the World Trade Center?

9/11 Blogger | September 4 2006

The recent New York Times article on 9/11 implies that controlled demolition of the Twin Towers would have been impossible, because no one could have snuck in all of the explosive equipment.

I, and many others, have previously addressed this issue. I am re-posting this essay in light of the Times' hit piece on this issue.

How Could They Plant Bombs in the World Trade Center?

Recently, a smart, accomplished person told me:

"I don't believe that the World Trade Center could have been destroyed by controlled demolition . . . how could they have possibly planted bombs without anyone seeing them?"

In fact, there were plenty of opportunities to plant bombs in the World Trade Center. For example:

Bomb-sniffing dogs were inexplicably removed from the Twin Towers five days before 9-11

The Twin Towers had been evacuated a number of times in the weeks preceding 9/11

There was a power down in the Twin Towers on the weekend before 9/11, security cameras were shut down, and many workers ran around busily doing things unobserved.

And -- as an interesting coincidence -- a Bush-linked company ran security at the trade centers, thus giving it free reign to the buildings.

These are just a few of the known, public examples of opportunities to plant bombs. There were undoubtedly many additional opportunities available to skilled operatives."

In addition to these facts, demolition and building collapse experts have purportedly raised the possibility of "explosive tenants" -- i.e. tenants in the World Trade Centers who planted bombs in their own, rented space. For example, according to Webster Tarpley and others, Hugo Bachmann, professor emeritus of building dynamics and earthquake engineering at the world-famous Swiss Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zürich:

“In the second scenario, an additional terrorist action would have caused the collapse of the buildings. In this way, according to Bachmann, buildings like the World Trade center can be destroyed without great logistical exertion.” The article went on to say that “Bachmann could imagine that the perpetrators had installed explosives on key supports in a lower floor before the attack.” If the perpetrators had rented office space, then these “explosive tenants” could have calmly placed explosive charges on the vulnerable parts of the building “without having anyone notice.” Subscribe to *9-11*

I can't be certain, but it would seem a "natural" that there would have been inspection ports in the support columns, to allow a camera to be lowered, to check for corrosion; or such as earthquake/storm damage.

Those same ports could be used to lower explosives.

Conversely, if there were no such ports, it wouldn't take that much to create them with a torch, in the guise of doing 'other' maintenance work.

OR -

There could have also been 'regular' shape-charges planted, using duct tape, for that matter.

The key mystery is what was at the basement levels; that was more heat than I can imagine - short of a nuke. The heat, one can easily account for (thermite), but not the duration of the temperatures.

WTC - 9/11 www.gieis.uni.cc Independent Analysis of Scientific Evidence Relating to 9/11 All The Latest Information...

Let's examine the logistical requirements of planting 20,000lbs of thermite or conventional explosive. We must first determine that the physical transportation of materials onto the site is possible and that method is portable.

We'll begin by converting our units to metric for easier reading:

20,000 lbs = 9090.9 kg = 9.0909 Tonnes

9 tonnes may seem a lot, but as I'll soon show you, many hands do indeed make light work. Assuming 50 people were involved, that would require each to plant:

181.818 Kg

That would require 3 trips, carrying approximately 60kg per trip. Assuming a generic device size of around 3kg, that would be 20 devices per trip, or 60 devices per man in total. For a mental reference, the average weight for a male adult in the US is around 76- 83 kg according to Wikipedia.

60 Devices * 50 people = 3000 devices

As each building had 110 floors, that gives us 220 floors in total. We can spread these 50 people so that we have 1 person for every 4 floors, across both buildings and ignore the bottom 10 floors, leaving us with 200 floors to cover.

Each man would then place 15 devices on each of the 4 floors assigned to him.

50 peopele * 4 floors = 200 floors (15 devices x 4 floors) * 50 people = 3000 locations/devices

So, that's 1500 devices and 25 men per building.

Thus, it is feasible for there to be as little as 33 people involved if each carried 90kg. Gaining access has numerous plausible scenarios and only requires a window of 5 minutes. Given a good hiding spot for the devices, 1 person could move across 4 floors, positioning 60 devices, in 3-4 hours.

So, here is a quick table:

50 people - about 3-4 hours 100 people - about 1.5-2 hours 150 people - about an hour

Numerous other variations of this basic analysis will also function just as well. As you can see, it would be pretty easy for any organisation of sufficent size involved in organised crime.
