Why Organizations Fail - Part I An Unsaleable Vision

Recently I met with a small group of men who represent an organization devoted to stopping “illegal” immigration in Mississippi. The men were kind and courteous as well as studied on the issues at hand. I was invited to advise on various approaches to fighting immigration, including strategies we used during the Mississippi State Flag fight. I listened carefully to their plans before offering my two cents worth. There were three things in particular that I pointed out, two of which concern this article.

First of all, the men spoke of apathy among the people of Mississippi. I cringe when I hear that filthy word. It’s all I’ve heard for years from organizations and it is diverts attention from the real problem. The problem is not leadership lacking people but people lacking leadership. True leaders will never blame the people for their lack of enthusiasm over an issue. Don’t take this wrong but God basically constituted people to be sheep. And I don’t mean this in any derogatory way - it’s just human nature. There are few who step forward as true leaders. If God had made us all leaders the world would be in an even bigger mess. Instead, we were made followers. When the right leader comes along the people will follow him. One thing I told the group I met with was, ”Men do not follow causes - they follow leaders.” This is one of my main leadership principles. By this I mean that a good leader can lead people in a bad cause and get places whereas a bad leader can’t seem to move anyone in his “good cause” and it fails. Oh well, he can always blame it on apathy.

The second point I wish to make is the vision they are trying to sale to the public. If I understand them correctly, they are fighting against “illegal” immigration - particularly the Mexican Invasion - because it is “illegal” and for that reason only. Afraid of being labeled “racist,” they are quite careful to make it an issue of law. There are two problems with this that concerns us here. One, this is not the reason that invaded communities are in an uproar, and two, this “reason” could disappear at the wave of a Congressional wand. Now, what do I mean by this?

If you say your organization is founded to stop the immigration invasion because the immigrants are here illegally, does that mean you are out of business when the whole lot of them are granted amnesty? If the millions you now fight against are given citizenship tomorrow, do they then become friends? After all, they would no longer be illegal, but legal citizens. Do you get my point? This is an “unsaleable vision.” Why are communities in an uproar about the invading masses? Simply put, they are not “like us.” They are a conquering army marching forth to supplant our people. They are not here to assimilate. They have a different culture, religion, and language. They have no desire to learn English or seek to blend in. They have no need to. For crying out loud they are coming from a third-world country to take your job - and they’ll get it because they will work cheaper than you will. This is why folks want the madness to end - they don’t give two hoots and a holler if these people are here legally or illegally - they don’t want them here PERIOD! Yes, The SPLC will call this “racist.” So what! Are you going to let a bunch of atheistic perverts determine your goals and set your agenda. If so, you are doomed from the start - you SHALL fail.

Without a vision the organization perisheth

Simply put, without a vision the organization perisheth. All groups must have a vision that is “saleable” to the troops or they will be ineffective. It is quite odd to me that some organizations have no vision at all. During the Mississippi State Flag fight there was a prominent national organization with Mississippi chapters that wanted to help out. I asked the folks what the vision of their organization was and they said they didn’t have one. I asked if they had goals or plans - maybe even a statement of purpose. They said everything was left up to the local chapters. That dawg don’t hunt! Every organization must have a vision and it must be made clear, attractive and attainable. There must be a unity of vision. There can be no victory when the people are not on the same page and are promoting different agendas.

Some other national organizations have “visions” but they are distant and abstract. This makes for a very difficult “sale” to the public. Folks need something that is close to them, if not “in their face.” There has to be something they can see, hear and handle. They have to touch, taste and feel the issue. Listen, you MUST touch a nerve or you cannot begin to build an army. If your vision is one that requires binoculars because it is so distant from the people - you will only be a small group. You have to bring your issue to the people and in such a way that they can’t refuse to join up with you. Bottomline: They must relate to your issue.

Further, you must have a winning attitude. Some groups have black clouds hanging over everything they say and do. No one wants to get behind a loser. If you do not have a vision of victory - no matter how difficult the issue - you will never achieve your goals. “Battles are lost in the mind before they are lost on the ground.” If the organization has a tough row to hoe, the leaders must first change the attitude of the people they target for recruitment; and it will take true leadership to do that. Those who have confidence in their leader will make his vision theirs. On the road to Fredericksburg, during the late lamentable War of Northern Aggression, a soldier was asked where they were heading. He replied, “We don’t know where we’re going’ but old Jack does.” And that’s all that mattered. Confidence in leadership - ah, the missing link is found.

The author is right on the mark. The sheeple will always be sheeple, and it's up to good people to lead them.

Let's take the most influential man who ever lived -- Jesus. He referred to Himself as "the good shepherd" and his followers as "sheep." Was He insulting them? Perhaps. After all, He did call them "sheep." On the other hand, He was telling the truth about most people.

Currently, there are 25 neocons in the administration, and look at the influence they have. The few will always lead the many. The good guys just have to make sure it's not Satan -- Zionists, Christian Zionists, Cosmodemonic Transnational Megacorporations -- leading them, the way we have now.

Interesting article - thanks.

I believe that things are the way that they were meant to be, and that we're just along for the ride, doing whatever we were always meant to be doing.
