Well, it's 3:30 AM New Zealand time. I've done all I can to rip what I felt were the most important distortions, lies, slanders and falsehoods from the NZ broadcast of P911 part one. Follow me inside to find links to the videos I've put together; you won't be dissappointed. If you are dissappointed, then please keep it to yourself because I have just spent the last 8 hours working on this.
I've supplied what I hope is appropriate (and correctly spelled) annotations to the clips. Some of the clips take scenes from different parts of the movie and put them together for a better narrative.
The production values of the movie are pretty damn good, which is going to make it all the more dangerous. People who don't know any better are really going to get sucked in.
The filmmakers seemed to be trying to paint the Clinton Administration in the worst possible light (what a surprise!). Besides the overt bias, there is also some subtle nuances...at least I think there were....I'm really tired now and I can't think of them offhand.
Anyway, the filmmaker's magnify the Clinton failures and they minimize their successes.
The first bashing comes about 15 minutes into the move with scenes concerning the 1993 WTC bombing.
Emad A. Salem is an ex-Egyptian army officer turned FBI informant. After the bombing, Salem claimed that the FBI knew about the bombing plot, and agreed to foil it by supplying fake explosives to him. Those conversations point to an FBI supervisor as the culprit for the failure to stop the WTC attack. They are followed on with the first (of many) attacks on due process and Civil Rights: First WTC Attack Clip
The filmmakers' contempt for due process and civil rights is again illustrated in this scene about an hour into the film: Civil Rights are for Pussies Clip
This next big bash at Clinton is about 85 minutes into the movie. They are trying to sully one of his Administration's major victories: the capture of Ramziy Yousef: Ramziy Yousef Arrest Clip
This next clip is probably the most dishonest one of the entire movie and it is also the most revealing. The excuse of "poetic license" for the other fabrications in the movie is lame and transparently false, but at least it does have a miniscule amount of merit. There is no excuse for the outright and dangerous lie in this next clip (about 98 minutes into the movie): Osama Wants Your Soul Clip
At about the 2 hour mark, the filmmakers finally unveil the Clenis, but they use the Washington Monument for a stand-in: Monumental Clenis Clip
About 7 minutes after the Monumental Clenis scene, we have the Really Big Lie of the non-capture of OBL during the non-event that never happened. I'm sure the buck passing dialogue is unintentional self-parody: The Big Lie Clip
This scene is about 2hours and 20 minutes into the movie. It is a discussion about the cruise missile attack to get OBL and makes it seem like the Clinton Administration is not interested in going after the Taliban: Going after OBL instead of having some T Clip
This next scene is probably one that they reworked because of the Madeline Albright's objections. It seems to be different than what we've read about. Even though the facts say otherwise and the dialogue even relates those facts, the dialogue is still used as an indictment against the Clinton Administration. This is definitely a film by right-wingnuts: they're not letting themselves get confused by the facts, even when they can recite them: Nobody's at fault, so we'll blame you
