As Autumn leaves fall, we say goodbye to the Summer of 2006. Thinking of Summer songs, this seemed to come to mind. :) Who knows if New Years Day 2007, will usher in the United States again.

I welcome the cool calm and detachment that this season brings us, even if it suggests a bit of melancholy. I really loved that song...rolling through the jasmine in my mind...
Seems like there was an early Steve Miller Band tune about or even titled Autumn.
I found out why I can't view these vids, it's Flash. I'll get it going one of these days, then maybe I'll be able to relate to these threads in a more direct way. Music is the biggest part of my little life, and actually it's really bizarre that I'm so excluded from these threads.
Love that woman! Absolutely love her. What a voice! And writes so much of her own stuff. Real creative talent is, sadly, so rare among female music stars these days. Posers get all the attention. I'm so glad for the few that manage to get to me through the industry. Loved her in 10,000 maniacs and also after.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh..... No NO!! LOL!! I had a Ricky Nelson album that had to have THE WORST color of aqua as the background. I used to file that sucker at the very very back of my 'collection'. You know the wire stand?? It was cool to have a full stand of records, and a whole separate one for your 45's. (with inserts)
But, it was horrifying if someone looked to the back of your collection.
If we were really at war, the borders would be closed.

I know.. I like fall in many ways better than spring.. the crispness in the air..
You should download flash.. I so enjoy listening to music while Im reading the news... enjoy sharing music and seeing what music others relate to.. Music means a lot to me too.. interesting how it's linked with our memories..
It's from the movie 'Chicago' with Richard Gere and Renee Zellweger, Queen Latifa.
Excellent movie.. well done.. and this scense didn't make sense the first time you saw it either!! LOL! Good movie though, and it eventually fits. JMHO>>

OMG .. Natalie Merchant is one of my favorite singers. I've followed her music since her days with 10,000 Maniacs.. thanks!
Same here.
Remember Trouble me?
What I am is What I am?? ---(I don't know, too many things, I know what I know, if you know that that means.......... Philosophy, on the top of a cereal box...Religion, ...)
Goot stuff!

Drag me to the shallow water before I get too deep...
But that was Whatshername and the New Bohemians. Paul Simon's girlfriend. Uh..Uh...Edie Burkelle!
Rabble.. can't wait for you to get flash.. it will be great!!
It's funny how one song can just lift up leaf after leaf of some of the most wonderful songs, even if only for the brief moment they were popular, there they are.. stuck in your brain.
One of my all time favorites is, Stuck In The Middle by Steelers Wheel. Great harmony.. most people I know, barely remember it.. funny how the mind just gloms onto certain things.
Hurry up with the flash stuff. :)

No problem, this music resonates with the melancholy feeling the numbness of seeing politicians using deaths they caused on 9-11 as an excuse to cause tens of thousands of more deaths and maiming in illegal and immoral wars.
It came out in the sad aftermath of the Vietnam War, and this sort of music has found new sad and tragic times to resonate with an audience once more.
War is over if you want it, if we all want it. We can make the leaders follow.
One of my favorites by her!! I think I remember this set.. I *think* it was aired as one of those "By Request" shows... It just seems familiar, and along the time of UnPlugged phenom.
Unique voice!
Good pick!! Thanks Zip!! :)

Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle from a Friend Called Felicity
During that summer When unicorns were still possible; When the purpose of knees Was to be skinned; When shiny horse chestnuts (Hollowed out Fitted with straws Crammed with tobacco Stolen from butts In family ashtrays) Were puffed in green lizard silence While straddling thick branches Far above and away From the softening effects Of civilization;
During that summer-- Which may never have been at all; But which has become more real Than that one that was-- Watermelons ruled.
Thick pink imperial slices Melting frigidly on sun-parched tongues Dribbling from chins; Leaving the best part, The black bullet seeds, To be spit out in rapid fire Against the wall Against the wind Against each other;
And when the ammunition was spent, There was always another bite: It was a summer of endless bites, Of hungers quickly felt And quickly forgotten With the next careless gorging.
The bites are fewer now. Each one is savored lingeringly, Swallowed reluctantly.
But in a jar put up by Felicity, The summer which maybe never was Has been captured and preserved. And when we unscrew the lid And slice off a piece And let it linger on our tongue: Unicorns become possible again.
i love this...sergio mendez and brazil 66 were one of my favorite groups back then. i saw them in concert outdoors and they were fabulous. i'm dancing!
