Bro, the forum proper have declared that Friday night isn't a night to celebrate the fact that we can raise a drink to our brothers & sisters and rejoice.
I agree with the Klingon philosophy to "Eat drink and be merry because tomorrow we all may die!"
At the Time.com forum we had a Rumpus Room where people dropped the politics and just talked with drink and food that was partaken in virtually as the only tying hook.
It works good if you have people who are good alternating being the barkeep and chef, as it takes imagination to make it interesting enough to work.
It would be good for people to let their hair down in here on Fridays at least. (Or rub the nubs if they have no hair to let down.)
It helps open up the lurkers to get then to speak, and get people to lurk if a forum is having fun. It is never just about talk, and the seriousness of politics and the news should never take someone sense of fun and revelry for life away.
To: mrobison Hope they included polyandry. It wouldn't be fair for just men to get the multiple contract option.

Here as bicycle thug I make fun of Free Republic by using one of GW Bush's dumb quotes he wishes he never made in my posts and no FReeper ever noticed, or ever caught on. And making fun of the Chimperor there is an offense that gets people banned too.
This is what happens if a forum doesn't have fun, nobody gets the joke anymore if you are funning people. I even had to finally blow the account name's cover as they went over a year without realizing I was the *GASP!* dreaded banned poster, 'ferret.' We should drink long and party hard on Friday nights if we ever get so humorless we get that clueless about things as has happened with FReepers.
i will go in to SB tomorrow and look for a pressure cooker at the thrift stores. there is a catalog for spores from all over the world. there are some really colorful ones from thailand that are also supposed to be very good to eat.

We have lots of good ones here in Oregon. You can even find really good LSD here in state if you know the right people. That can be allot more fun then 'srooms.

the psychodelic ones are just finishing coming up. they start in mid august and end about now. you can probably still find a few. google "liberty cap" for some pictures. look in moist shady places where cattle or horses have been. the grass has to be thin and sort of short. you should be able to see dirt through it. there are millions of them all over the place. look alikes are usually not dangerous and there are not that many look alikes. the real ones are about the size of a thimble or smaller and the stem is the same brown color as the cap. the common look alike around here has a sort of clear stem.

we are not thinking about growing liberty caps. that would be like spending a lot of time to grow crab grass. it is easier to just go out in the fields and pick it.
there are only brown ones around here. i've seen some that look like the white ones but i don't trust them. there is one type that looks exactly like the white one in the picture for several hours but then flattens out into a fringed cap. that type of cap is usually dangerous - like a ring around the stem or a bulb at the bottom.
watch out for these. they sort of look like liberty caps but they grow on logs and other sorts of wood. never on the ground. liberty caps come up out of the dirt.
one ounce of these can destroy your liver and kidneys. probably kill you or at least cripple you for life.

Are you talking about the white one with the little bit of orange on the very top? Years ago when I lived in Florida we used to go pick them from the fields where dairy cattle grazed. They were white caps which were flattened out, and had a large orange area in the middle of the cap; and a purple collar around the stem. Some of them were 6 inches in diameter caps!! We would boil them for about 15 minutes and use the juice mixed with grape KoolAid - didn't taste too bad done that way.....
