Sep. 16, 2006 -- WMR has received a number of emails from readers stating that access to this site is being restricted by a number of Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The ISPs involved in restricting access are local and global. One reader who has repeatedly encountered the message "Server not found" when trying to access WMR has found a work around by using the free anonymous proxy server https://www.the-cloak.com/login.html?verbose=yes&pin

Any opinions out there on whether such blocking would be feasible?

We discussed this about al-Manar and also WMR recently. Critter gave instructions how to get around it.

No one here seemed to be blocked, as they were from al-Manar.

The blocking is done by cable company. For example, with al-Manar, those with dialup service appeared to have no problem. Critter found the ISP to al-Manar and we used that.

And from what I've read the govt of China blocks a lot of websites from their people.
