Death rampage by bicycle gang of 50 Sep 19 2006 By Crime Reporter Ben Ashford A 50-STRONG bicycle mob went on a deadly rampage, stabbing one man to death and knifing another two. The gang, thought to be youths in their teens and late 20s, took to the streets of New Cross on Sunday night armed with guns and knives. Their first victim, Jason Gayle, thought to be in his early 30s, was stabbed repeatedly in the chest on his doorstep in Ludwick Mews and shot with a gas-powered gun. Early reports suggested his brother had also been knifed in the shoulder as the youths swamped them outside their neatly-kept terraced home. As Jason lay in a pool of blood after the stabbing at 9pm, the mob rode off to search for other victims. Another man was stabbed in the leg nearby and beaten around the head. It is understood the youths placed a gaspowered gun to his head and fired several blank shots to scare him into submission before stealing his moped. Cops were probing reports of other attacks and gun shots across Lewisham as we went to press. Police chiefs in the borough were locked in emergency talks yesterday morning to discuss the gang-related rampage. The attacks come amid a surge in robberies which have risen by half in the borough since April. The murder has immediately been linked to notorious gun gang, The Peckham Boys. A police source said: "If you want to know who the killers are, head down to Peckham, that's where the police will be looking." Jason's family were already grieving after the loss of his brother, Alex Bent, who died in a car crash in Lawrie Park Avenue,Sydenham, last year. A family friend said: "Their mum Eileen will never get over this. She's a lovely woman. It was a tragedy to lose Alex but this is too much. "They're a nice family, very friendly. Jason was very nice, very pleasant. He got on with my children. No one has had a bad word about this family." The murder was just a quarter of a mile away from the scene of two other killings. Orville Davidson, 25, and Peter Buahin, 23, were shot in March and July 2005 respectively. After this weekend's attacks, one frightened resident said: "You read in the papers about Moss Side but what about here? There are muggings, murders. My daughter-in-law's father recently took a kicking." Police said they were called to a "number of incidents" but had made no arrests by yesterday morning and were searching the area for clues. Acting borough commander Superintendent Richard Martin said: "These circumstances were tragic for all involved, both for the victims and the wider community. "What I can assure everybody is we are putting in extra patrols to provide reassurance." Police can be contacted on 020 8649 4553. * A boy of 16 was fighting for his life after another, unrelated, gang attack on Thursday. He was pushed off his bike in Oscar Street, Deptford, by robbers and beaten with chains, branches and an advertising hoarding. The motive is thought to be robbery.

Since the race is NOT mentioned, it is obvious that the perps are NOT white. Otherwise the reporter would have been sure to say it this way: "The suspects were a gang of white males, that's right, white males. Again, be on the lookout for a bicycle gang of white males! One of those in critical condition is a black child. This band of white males is reponsible for a number of crimes in the Southampton area, and again we repeat, be on the lookout for white males on bicycles!"
Peckham Boys have been around for a while. They're lethal, unfeeling - and no one can touch them : Youths on the deprived estates where Damilola died see drugs and gangs as their only way out. They have no guilt, no shame - and no trust in adults.
