I would "fight" them if I thought for a second it was worth my time. But having spent a couple years over there and many more at FR I realize that most reichwingers are either too stupid to argue with as they don't possess the capacity for logic and critical thought or they are just shills and they are there to lie and waste your time and engage in cheap childish diversion. Have fun. Arguing with a clump of sewer sludge is a more productive past time. Years ago- real internet debate was possible- now the scum shills have ruined most of the major boards. Now the best you can hope for is to expand your knowledge with like minded individuals. You won't do that arguing with people with whom basic reality eludes and who are not interested in truth whatsoever.

Go to the Biker Bar and post a thread asking people to come here and really get informed on the truth of 9-11. You will piss Goldi off as we are a growing headache for her, and if you are banned you have a place to go better then there, and people will better know where to go to find you. ;-D
nobody's fought that good fight harder than you. my strong sympathies for this. You're right about 'preaching to the choir' and you're right about good fight at church of satan over there. but others are right too that it may be of no value to keep fighting. Certainly it is very little value over here because you are preaching to the choir. Probably more valuable over there. You are very disciplined and polite as you haven't been banned. I was banned about 2 years ago over at LP. My only advice is - don't let it get you down. Keep your head held high. you've done the right thing. For the sake of your conscience and mental health continue to do the right thing. But don't expect to win. expect instead that the one who made us will return ... etc etc.
the fighting is the draw. i don't think many people have problems seeing through barf alert or the others, their arguments are usually childish. the LP regulars are not good at putting out a message. notice how few articles are posted now. almost none. these people are mainly interested in preventing others from getting out an unapproved message. i think that if the rational posters ever withdraw, the place will die. this thread is good however as it will get every single LP poster reading over here --- and they could use the education.
That says it all. The majority of LP reichwinger posters utterly lack it and they are not there in good faith at all. They have an agenda and that's it- fuck the facts- screw logic- screw common sense- screw basic reality to the point of looking absurd. It is childish, insulting to the lurker and to me, and a waste of time.

The key is to know that you're going to be subjected to a lot of 'psyops' tactics which will include casting 'shame,' and 'guilt.' The methods are finely tuned - IF you don't recognize them. If you can just blow the bastards off & stick to facts, you can win. (I was never good at that.)

you will never convince the posters on LP of anything. if you prove them wrong they will just spin and squirm and refuse to see the facts in front of their faces. this has some value as it shows the readers the type of person who still pushes the LP viewpoint. but if you want to get your message out, it is probably better to do it over here -- without the harassment.
i think the goal is to develop a site where people like to come and read. maybe log on for news the first thing in the morning. this is powerful. converting ten or twelve hate filled substance abusers over on LP chnages nothing. that is why it is probably wrong to fight on LP and give them their draw. the posters there can only spew hate and talking points. no one is interested in that except a small minority who won't change. without the fights, the place dies.
I just enjoy a forum where people are interested in the truth, and don't abuse someone who may have a differing point of view - if we can't look at other ideas, without going into a foaming rage, then we are no better than the ElPee's or FReeper's. But that's just me...civility and common courtesy are way high on my list. Cheers.

Great analogy christine. All of us have passed thru numerous forums, most with the flame-bait style of LP. When Goldi stocked the pond with warbots prior to Iraq, that was the last straw for me. Add to that insult her phony claim of being a constitutionalist *and* an even handed moderator. She treats adults like kids and I for one find it insulting.
I think most here have a good sense of basic reality and are refreshingly free of "isms". El Pee and FR are forums for rote thinking ideologues who first pass everything through an ideological filter that automatically renders them incapable of seeing anything but dim flickers of the truth. Imagine the truth is a candle reflection on the wall of a deep cave. Well- El Pee'ers and Freakers are outside the cave and all they can see- sometimes- is a flash of light. They fear going into the cave. Their ideological templates tell them the cave is evil (this is the same for Leftwing nuts of the two party fraud). Others however do venture into the cave- some further than others- the shadows cast by the candle clearer to some in the cave than others. Everyone here- is at least in the cave. We don't have all the answers. We grope about in the dimness and search for it. We certainly don't all agree- and I think some here have some pretty fucked up ideas about what the candle light reveals- but again- at least we are not on threads dismissing everything that challanges our neat and tidy circular logic world with cliche template one liners about the "librul media" or dismissing anything out of hand that doesn't come from some party line rag journal.

If Goldi hadn't shown her true colors, I'd still be there, but after the hateful crap she posted and the totally unwarranted bannings and pullings of posts, it's no longer anything like a "neutral" site. If you want to fight the good fight, go be conservative on Kos, liberal on FR or pro-government on Rockwell. Me, to the extent possible, I just want thoughtful dialogue, not nasty contrariness, which is what LP is now. The site is a dead hole. Why waste my time?

Hi, I don't know what your specific issue is, but my take on LP is that most of the posters are okay, well a lot of them anyway, but there are always those Bushbots and OBLers. I'd rather go over there and argue with them and maybe...just maybe... they might get to see some other point of view or it might help the lurkers to speak up. I had an extended debate with Badeye, BeAChooser, Yukon and some others about 9/11 and WTC7 the other day. I can't say I "won" the debate, but I think going forth and meeting the other side and engaging them is ultimately more productive - at least for me - than talking just to people I agree with. I'd rather fight than switch, LMAO.

I was over reading some old threads from 2003 last night. You can't appreciate how far the place has fallen until you do that. I was really amazed at the depth and knowledge of some of the posters. There was something resembling an actual debate going on. The place is a mindless cesspool now. A good way to see this is to simply search badeye, he's on every thread, and then click back about 100 pages to 2002 or 2003.
