If you ever wanted to see how badly 'conservatives' have been shaking the silver out of our pockets in the past six years, this list is it.

1) The Bush administration has created the biggest budget deficit, debt, and trade imbalance ever while cutting funding for domestic needs like education, Medicare, and Medicaid.

2) The administration’s tax cuts favor the rich, no matter how you look at it. About 87 percent of tax benefits go to the 14 percent of households with incomes above $100,000. Households with incomes below $75,000 -- three-quarters of all households -- get just 5 percent of those benefits.

3) Bush signed the largest corporate tax break package in two decades, $136 billion. After World War II, corporations paid half the cost of running the federal government. Today, they pay 7%.

4) The price of gas doubled under Bush. The top oil companies earned $25 billion during the quarter that Hurricane Katrina struck compared to $50 billion for all of 2004. Former Exxon-Mobil, CEO, Lee Raymond got a $400 million exit package.

5) The Republican Congress has voted against every minimum wage increase, except the one linked to getting rid of the estate tax for the rich. The real income of the average American household has fallen five years in a row.

6) House Republicans chopped education programs by $14.3 billion -- the highest cuts ever. College tuition has increased 34 percent since Bush took office.

7) Since 2001, average monthly health care premiums have risen from $342 to $603. Annual deductibles have doubled. Today 46 million Americans (including 8.4 million children) have no health insurance, an increase of 6 million since Bush took office.

8) The Senate approved the biggest bankruptcy law in a quarter of a century. Republicans voted AGAINST protecting senior citizens, the seriously ill, military members, veterans, and employees.

9) In 1983, the Greenspan Commission put Social Security measures in place that created a $1.7 trillion surplus in the system. This administration borrowed against and cut that to $153 billion while blaming citizens for not dying young enough.

10) In 2005, Americans paid $4.3 billion in withdrawal fees at ATM’s and $16 billion to credit card companies in late fees alone. Republicans have suggested no remedies.

I've got an Idea. Carry cash and don't fall into the debt trap. The best finanical advise I ever got was a fellow who told me his nickname for Credit Cards - "Plastic handcuffs." Go talk to a member of the "greatest generation" and learn that credit cards were once a mark of shame and a sign of poverty.

Another idea, my anarchist friend came up with this one to defeat "check cashing" fees. If the bank charges you, remind them that the check is made out to you, not the bank and they have no right to that money. After that, start to raise your voice and throw in a few words like "cock-sucker" and "son a bitch"; then watch as the manager comes over and "waves" the fee for you just to get rid of you.

Duyba has screwed up a lot of things. And I admit that he along with others have championed the idea that debt is wealth, but don't blame the "R"s because you hand over your money to an untrustworthy 3rd party.

Remember, a coffee can has no withdrawl fees.

manager comes over and "waves" the security guard for you, is alot more likely.

The only person the bank is obligated to give the money to is the owner of the account.

You, as a second party to the account, have no right of demand. Unless you fulfill their demands to make sure to the bank you are really the person the owner of the account desired the money to be paid.

As a point of fact, when you leave the bank, the bank has little recourse to regaing the $$ if the check was fraud. So, in general, they will opt for credit cards so they can (illeagaly, I think) charge your account if the check is flawed.

PO - don't think for a moment I am an apologist for the banking system, I have been burned by them many times, some in outragous ways.

I just think the idea of profanities in a bank lobby easing the check cashing process is not really going to work.

We get alot of business from employers who have had disputes with banks, Wells Fargo being a big one, who actually direct their employees to us after their employees have had similar disputes with the banks over excessive ID requirements and fees.

BTW, if we know you and have verified your company, 1.4% is what we skin the check for. And we'll sell you some cold beer for the weekend at the same time.

Just so long as you don't threaten anyone the worst they can do is throw you out, at which point all you do is move on to the next bank. My friend has been using a "louder is better" tact with the banks and hasn't paid a check cashing fee in 25 years.

On average managers don't like commotion in the lobby. Watching a guy get thrown out because he didn't want to pay a fee to simply get the money owed him does not play well with other customers. Still, he only did it when he had to and didn't go looking for a fight every time someone cut him a check.

I'll have to ask him some specifics. I do know he belonged to and worked with many anti-tax and anti-government groups in the 70s and 80s and picked up all sorts of dirty tricks used by both sides.

P.S. Wells Fargo = Spawn of the Devil. After I moved from Alaska I closed out all of my bank accounts. I haven't bothered to open new ones. The few fees I pay for money orders and check cashing shops is far less than the "fees" I'd pay like reordering checks or account maintence.

Spot on on that. So many folks who have had accounts with WF, I told them one day you be sad you associated with that outfit.

Most have come in.......saying, damm you were right.

I regret doing business with Wells Fargo, and I believe you will too.
