Okay, so we know the Dems and Pubs are both useless sides of the same coin and as long as the corporatists can buy the pols at the top, just working through regular party politics is pretty useless. Or so it seems anyway. Perhaps I am too pessimistic. Anyway, I am wondering about starting political talk/action groups in local area - not affiliated with any party, or even a particular philosopy, but just to give people a place to meet, exchange info, debate, have duels :) etc. It seems like we need some new paradigms. I'd like people to get past the rigidity and partisan thinking involved with current political parties and systems and be able to speak honestly and freely and at length. It seems to me that political forums are lacking in regular life, but the activity on the Net would indicate to me that a need or desire to connect in this way exists.
What do you folks think of the likely success of such groups in your own area?
