I agree. I don't condone what Foley was doing, but evidently the DC elite ( both parties) had condoned it for quite some time. Then 1 month before the November bi-election, Foley gets "revealed." Just another of a string of GOP scandals, it would seem. Either the GOP is having some very bad luck all at once; or the GOP is throwing the election; or the Democrats are getting some help from some friends.

Two days before the election wouldn't matter either! Here in Tampa a political columnist from the Tampa Tribune does a Saturday morning radio show. Today he also mentioned that it was commonly rumored in Florida political circles that Foley had problems in this area. I was personally unaware of this as I'm not a resident in Foley's district. News about Katherine Harris tends to drown out that of representatives from the east coast. The same goes for Gov. Allen. The pattern is clear if one cares to look. Perhaps the elite power brokers have recognized that the public is getting hip to their “neo-con hustle” and that it’s time for them to replace it with a newer (but equally malicious) illusion.

You're absolutely right. This was a political setup meant to hurt the Republican Party. Therefore, Foley's actions and the actions of the GOP are perfectly OK. Foley should be allowed to continue his important work in office, and the RP's role as pedophile enablers should be ignored. Friggin' dems think they can get away with this! The parent's didn't care, why should anyone else! The parent's are good Christians and understand that the RP is doing God's work. This work is hard, and Foley's an important man! If Foley needs some stress relief, he deserves it, regardless of who he turns to for that relief! It was probably a dem page that turned him in! Friggin' immoral ingrates. The audacity of people to bring this to our attention right now. Unfriggin' believeable that people do not see how political this is. On top of that, this situation may have a negative impact upon the Republican Party and the president as CIC in a time of WAR! Therefore, whomever started this politically motivated witch-hunt is guilty of purposefully and materially supporting hostilities against the United States and should be held as an enemy combatant. You speak in ciphers. I want voters to throw the bums out, to cast their vote against any incumbent, be it a GOP or a Democrat. I have consistently said "vote for da other guy" and would include voting against an incumbent like Foley, whether he had an R or D after his name matters not. I can just about guarantee that shimkus or hastert would have made an absolute point of saying that the whole committee or the minority chairman, at the minimum, would have been aware and why hadn't he spoken up or out more loudly in protest, blah blah blah. BUT.........neither of these two did. Which tells me, the idiots thought they could just keep it swept under the corner of the rug. Furthermore, you can just about take it to the bank that the pages were given some sort of 'general' warning about the necessity of using caution when on the internet, if even that much.......there is no way in hell, they would have been told to 'watch out for that mark foley when you're on the internet'. I'm with you in suspecting that this foley story was broken (and IMO by the gopers) as a way to brush over the torture barnyard bull bill. I found it interesting that under that bill, in the treaty section, there was a retroactive clause going back to November 1997. Perhaps we're all wrong, and the msm will dutifully make a detailed report on the torture policy bill of the us as just passed by the house or the senate. I heard there was two different bills, so it has to go into reconciliation, or conference committee.....if so, hold onto your hats because all bets are off as to what it will contain.
Well, excuse me,............I should have predicated that with something like: "according to reports in the msm".......or perhaps even listed the news articles which contained the information that it wasn't told to anyone. Its for damned sure I didn't just take some friggin party stance or grab a list of talking points. :)
The point of my citing the Clinton case is not to beat up on old news. My point was to show that the timing of both these scandals - about Foley and the GOP weasel who was cheating on his wife with a woman 35 years his junior - is that we are seeing a new party being ushered into power by the powers that be, just like the Clinton scandal marked the downward turning point of that party "being allowed" to be in power. The chairs on the Titanic are being re-arranged before our eyes BEFORE the bi-election has even taken place. Get it now? No one is arguing that Foley's crime against minors and using the powers of his office and perhaps even the juvenile contacts he was able to make through his committee chairmanship is too be excused. What Foley did was dispicable and he should be thrown in jail for a good long number of years. What I'm arguing is that "the die has been cast" before we sheeple even get a chance to exercise our vote - we're being led to which party we must vote for. And both parties have equally craven numbers of pervs and criminals. And both parties constitute an oligarchy of our nation, especially through the power of incombentcy.
