He may be a 'short eyes', but the released emails were not overtly sexual. He asked what the kid wanted for his birthday, and to send a photo.

Hell, I just wrote a nephew of mine and asked the same things.

UH you do know that foley has been kicked out, unlike barney frank and ted kennedy.

UH you do know that this was basically a well-known secret for a year by many, many Republicans in DC, who chose to keep it a secret rather than risk harming their hold on power?

You can choose to defend people who care more about protecting a f#cking pedophile over possibly losing control of Congress if you like. I'm not sure how you can look yourself in the mirror, though. Even without the IMs, there was enough evidence to be more proactive about Foley's fondness for boys. It also appears that page orientation unofficially included instructions to cover your ass when around Foley. There are several people in Congress who could have done something about this, but chose not to really do so until the sh!t hit the fan in the news media. That is more an example of a culture of corruption than any garbage Pelosi has ever cited.

I'm amazed, this issue has drawn serious comments there. Of course the rest of the semi sentient rabble don't know what to make of it when that happens, as they do one liner party hack posts.

At FReeperland talking politics and commenting on stories and social issues is currently on the intellectual level of little kids playing house, or cowboys and Indians.

BTW, anyone with children should read that entire sickening exchange between Foley and the page. Watch how the whole IM ended with the approach of the kid's mom.

Oh if this was a Democrat, they wouldn't have conveniently forgotten to mention the things you bring up. It is more fun picking on Clinton for his little peccadilloes and sneering self righteously at Barney Frank.

To actually deal with one of their own - who is obviously a creature of the political party system they enslave themselves to - in a manner that roots out the cancer killing them is too horrible a task for gutless wonders like them to preform.

One thing I will say about the two targets I mention, at least Clinton was dealing with a savvy predator every bit as dangerous as him. And at least Barney Frank is faithful to his own. He would never back bite the gay community, and thus has more credibility then this Foley caricature who back bit anyone and anything that it served his vested interest to do so.

Frank has integrity, this Neo Con gay from Florida doesn't, and that's got to hurt when you live in the la la land FReepers call home.

The Democrats can definitely crash and burn too in a big way. And he fell from the chairmanship of the House Ways and Means committee too. This occurred a long time ago and what we see now is a result of the same self serving myopia that gave birth to such monsters as Mark Foley.

The US Constitution is already locked-upped and behind armed guards within the public venue. If you attempt to take a "peek" at the real thing you could be a terrorist. Shot dead by government guards.

Then it's a good thing they didn't hear Bush call it a "goddamn piece of paper" then, isn't it? Or is it?

Perhaps we should clue them into this.

The timing is quite suspcious.

I agree.

I don't condone what Foley was doing, but evidently the DC elite ( both parties) had condoned it for quite some time.

Then 1 month before the November bi-election, Foley gets "revealed." Just another of a string of GOP scandals, it would seem.

Either the GOP is having some very bad luck all at once; or the GOP is throwing the election; or the Democrats are getting some help from some friends.

We have no idea at this point in time what the GOP did or didn't do. All I am saying is that if this was known for some time, as suggested, the timing is political to the max. The same goes for Gov. Allen. The pattern is clear if one cares to look.

And exactly what is so bad about what time it becomes public that someone is diddling pervertedly with children? Frankly, who gives a flying fig leaf when the sonofabitch is outted? Two days before the election wouldn't matter either! The important thing is to get him outted and out of our lives--outted and on a list of sex perverts--better yet brand the forehead in large letters, like CM, CA, SP, etc., so that every step the sonofabitch takes it is evident to everyone in society to avoid him like the plague.

I find it at least a tad bit MORE IMPORTANT to crucify the sonofabitch that wants to diddle with our children while hypocritically positioning himself as an advocate for missing and EXPLOITED kids!

Seems your outrage is seriously misplaced. I daresay if it was your son who was the page involved with some political bastard trying to dicker with him, your opinion of timing wouldn't matter--you'd be wanting to kill the bastard with your bare hands.....that is, of course, unless you're a girly sort of man or...*gasp* like foley!

All I am saying is that if this was known for some time, as suggested, the timing is political to the max.

Here in Tampa a political columnist from the Tampa Tribune does a Saturday morning radio show. Today he also mentioned that it was commonly rumored in Florida political circles that Foley had problems in this area.

I was personally unaware of this as I'm not a resident in Foley's district. News about Katherine Harris tends to drown out that of representatives from the east coast.

The same goes for Gov. Allen. The pattern is clear if one cares to look.

Perhaps the elite power brokers have recognized that the public is getting hip to their “neo-con hustle” and that it’s time for them to replace it with a newer (but equally malicious) illusion.

You're absolutely right. This was a political setup meant to hurt the Republican Party. Therefore, Foley's actions and the actions of the GOP are perfectly OK. Foley should be allowed to continue his important work in office, and the RP's role as pedophile enablers should be ignored. Friggin' dems think they can get away with this! The parent's didn't care, why should anyone else! The parent's are good Christians and understand that the RP is doing God's work. This work is hard, and Foley's an important man! If Foley needs some stress relief, he deserves it, regardless of who he turns to for that relief! It was probably a dem page that turned him in! Friggin' immoral ingrates. The audacity of people to bring this to our attention right now. Unfriggin' believeable that people do not see how political this is.

On top of that, this situation may have a negative impact upon the Republican Party and the president as CIC in a time of WAR! Therefore, whomever started this politically motivated witch-hunt is guilty of purposefully and materially supporting hostilities against the United States and should be held as an enemy combatant. This outing of potentially criminal actions on behalf of the party of family values right before the election has got to stop NOW!

I had the same observation about "curious timing" as Dempsey which I pointed out yesterday when the story first broke.

I cannot speak for Dempsey, but I tried to explain better to you what I meant by pointing out "curious timing" in my post #76.

I do not condone Foley's behavior, but the DC political elite - BOTH PARTIES - condoned his behavior for quite some time.

Don't tell me that the Dimwits were unaware of Foley's "proclivities" regarding hitting on little boy page interns. Puhleaze - if all the pages were told to beware of Foley when they were hired, you don't think that this news wasn't picked up by Dimwit Dumbo ears in the hallways of Congresss? The 2 parties snoop on each other all the time.

So your outrage should be directed at our political elite, not at Dempsey and me. We are solely the messengers.

You bet it is curious timing. I stand my my observations in post #76. There is something happening behind the scenes beyond a pedophile "getting caught." Foley should have been "caught" at minimum 1 year ago or even before that time.

Consider how Clinton, hitting on women 24/7 for years and years, only manages to get "tripped up" by 1 woman, a certain Monica Lewin-sky and alas, this Oval Office scandal significantly contributes to the Dimwit Party losing the "trust" of the sheeple.

or

"Ted Kennedy murdered a girl and he is still in the Senate. Librul Media- I Damn You!"

or

"Foley voted against X bill once. I always suspected he was a secret librual. I bet he was a sleeper Dem. I bet the GOP is just cleaning house at last. This is a good thing."

Of course they were aware of what was going on. Both parties are corrupt and immoral and feel they are above the law and "have a right" to act any way they want to act, to include having sex with underage children, using drugs, or any other number of activities that would have John Q Public rotting behind bars. Chances are good that Foley and his fellow congressional perverts were high fiving each other as they swapped pages.

So your outrage should be directed at our political elite, not at Dempsey and me. We are solely the messengers.

I'm not outraged at all. It sounded to me like Dempsey was making light of the situation because it was political. Of course it was political. Everything in Washington DC is political, but that does not mean they should get a pass. I merely took what I thought was his attitude and expanded on it until it sounded like a Becket Saunders, Footloose, putupjob ImStillRight, Barfs alot, or BAC post.

There is something happening behind the scenes beyond a pedophile "getting caught." Foley should have been "caught" at minimum 1 year ago or even before that time.

I agree. It's also disgusting to hear that the "liberal" newsmedia sat on this story instead of being investigative journalists and busting this story twelve months ago. My guess would be that it was outed now to take attention away from the toture bill Congress just passed.

They were. That is why they tried to out him in the last election. Darn 'librul media' wouldn't run with it.

You are too specific in your conspiracy theories. People are just going to gig you with facts and you won't provide a shred of cover for either Foley or the GOP. Try telling us that Foley was a Democratic plant under the control of Ken Starr. The people you are trying to fool don't need a rational excuse to continue their delusions, any excuse will permit them to fool themselves and cast the vote you are seeking.

The people you are trying to fool don't need a rational excuse to continue their delusions, any excuse will permit them to fool themselves and cast the vote you are seeking.

You speak in ciphers.

I want voters to throw the bums out, to cast their vote against any incumbent, be it a GOP or a Democrat. I have consistently said "vote for da other guy" and would include voting against an incumbent like Foley, whether he had an R or D after his name matters not. He is/was an incumbent ( and a sleaze bag incumbent at that).

So whatever you are nattering about my trying to influence people "to cast the vote I am seeking" in that I am simply questioning the "timing" of Foley being revealed as a perv, which the DC elite knew for some time... you have lost me.

As a matter of fact, the point I am making is that the 2 party system which we have in our midst, will benefit by the timing of Foley's scandal, because they - the powers that be and their incumbent political animals on a leash - want the sheeple to see GOP bad, Democrat good just prior to the upcoming bi-election. So that power is simply transferred from one feckless political party to another.

By voting against incumbents down the line, regardless of whether or not the incumbents have an R or D after their names, we the voters throw a wrench into the predictability of the political elites' well honed plans.

And fyi,the MSM represent as a whole a once proud profession that has been corrupted over the years by joy-nalists' craven desire to "maintain access" to power to get their "insider" news scoops and also by the limited family ownership of 99.9% of all MSM.

Sorry, but I didn't have a chance to read your comments.....it took me longer than 2 minutes to type up my response, I guarantee you. :)

I don't give a tinkers damn about the timing, as I tried to say earlier...all in politics is dirty tricks IMO. That is the least of my problems with either of the two heads of the leviathan monster called federal gubmint.

We can surmise all day long that 'they' did or did not know. I can just about guarantee that shimkus or hastert would have made an absolute point of saying that the whole committee or the minority chairman, at the minimum, would have been aware and why hadn't he spoken up or out more loudly in protest, blah blah blah. BUT.........neither of these two did. Which tells me, the idiots thought they could just keep it swept under the corner of the rug.

Furthermore, you can just about take it to the bank that the pages were given some sort of 'general' warning about the necessity of using caution when on the internet, if even that much.......there is no way in hell, they would have been told to 'watch out for that mark foley when you're on the internet'.

What the idiot clinton did with an adult intern is a whole different matter. I despise him to no end for his having done so, and thus opening the door for our impressionable young people to think its cool and safe and all that to do oral sex!

Another indictment against the merikan sheeple's ability to elect decent statesmen.

But then, this isn't about clinton......or monica.........its about a guy that is in the legislature who is pushing and voting on laws AGAINST what he does to the very people who these laws are meant to protect.

Everyone needs to get over clinton........he can't be president again. It is so old.

I'm with you in suspecting that this foley story was broken (and IMO by the gopers) as a way to brush over the torture barnyard bull bill. I found it interesting that under that bill, in the treaty section, there was a retroactive clause going back to November 1997.

Perhaps we're all wrong, and the msm will dutifully make a detailed report on the torture policy bill of the us as just passed by the house or the senate.

I heard there was two different bills, so it has to go into reconciliation, or conference committee.....if so, hold onto your hats because all bets are off as to what it will contain.

Everyone needs to get over clinton........he can't be president again. It is so old.

The point of my citing the Clinton case is not to beat up on old news. My point was to show that the timing of both these scandals - about Foley and the GOP weasel who was cheating on his wife with a woman 35 years his junior - is that we are seeing a new party being ushered into power by the powers that be, just like the Clinton scandal marked the downward turning point of that party "being allowed" to be in power. The chairs on the Titanic are being re-arranged before our eyes BEFORE the bi-election has even taken place.

Get it now? No one is arguing that Foley's crime against minors and using the powers of his office and perhaps even the juvenile contacts he was able to make through his committee chairmanship is too be excused. What Foley did was dispicable and he should be thrown in jail for a good long number of years.

What I'm arguing is that "the die has been cast" before we sheeple even get a chance to exercise our vote - we're being led to which party we must vote for.

And both parties have equally craven numbers of pervs and criminals. And both parties constitute an oligarchy of our nation, especially through the power of incombentcy.

If the guy is a queer, thats HIS problem. I am into women; that have lots of love.

If he's into young boys, it's OUR problem. Just like a straight guy into 13 year old girls is OUR problem. I'm finding it kind of hard to believe someone to the right would support ManBLA, which is what is going on here. His little email fantasizing about a kid's butt bouncing is pretty demented.

See the articles about the wingnut out in Orange County who was screwing young boys, and sits around in court laughing because the DA is a buddy, and he won't ever go to trial? There's a whole infrastructure of these perverts in the GOP; they don't think the word gay applies to them because they're RIGHT WINGERS.

As Roy Cohn so charmingly put it, "I'm not gay, I just like to fuck boys."

In this case, there are dozens of them with a little network to hire cute pages and interns and then get them drunk and seduce them. Then they claim THEY were seduced by those little jezebels.

When David Dreier and Lindsay Graham, among others, get outed, the whole party is going to implode. And it looks like old stories from Hastert's past are brewing up. Nekkid wrasslin with teenagers, with the gym locked.

The moral destruction of our country is only an indicator about the direction of our nation. And you have a point about considering the sexual lives of those that believe they represent us. But, what does it matter? You shall never have righteous men represent you. There is always something afoul about people.

I wager you have a little kinky closet problem, too. And would you force your sexual perversions upon others as a matter of government power?

Yet, the Bush cabal gets away with a bloodbath in Baghdad with the popular electorate placing woman's panties over "terrorists" heads; I think sexual perversion is relatively minor in scope in the grand scheme of things.

The sexual perversion, and the denial that goes with it, allows these monsters to think slaughter is OK if they can rationalize it as "national security." Let's face it, our pretzeldent appears to like men an awful lot. Women, not so much.

Moral decadence is qualified by sexual perversion but is not limited by the concept; it is only one perspective of the problem we have.

The idea that a sitting President spreads democracy and freedom around the world while over 30,000,000 illegals cross our sovereign borders is another form of moral decadence, too.
