President George W. Bush said he was "disgusted" by sexually explicit messages sent by a former Republican lawmaker to teenage congressional aides in his first comment on the growing scandal.

Bush said he supported House Speaker Dennis Hastert's call for a law enforcement probe into the e-mails and text messages sent by US Representative Mark Foley to young, male congressional pages.

"I was dismayed and shocked to learn about Congressman Foley's unacceptable behavior," Bush said during a visit at an elementary school in Stockton, California.

"I was disgusted by the revelations and disappointed that he would violate the trust of the citizens that placed him in office," he said.

Bush said the law enforcement investigation "should be thorough and any violations of law should be prosecuted."

He added that Hastert, whose handling of the matter has come under heavy criticism, "wants all the facts to come out."

"I am confident he (Hastert) will provide whatever leadership he can to law enforcement in this investigation," Bush said.

"wants all the facts (spun like a damn dervish) to come out..."

"will provide whatever leadership (down rabbit holes and chasing red herrings) he can..."

"We can't talk about the matter because it is under investigation". Wish I had a quarter for the number of times I've heard that bullshit before.

Abhu Gonzales (5+ / 0-)

Was asked today by reporters why the FBI had not done anything since it turns out that the FBI was informed in july.

Can you guess what his response was?

"Please give us the time to do our work, also I do not want to comment on an ongoing investigation."

Let's do a count on how many times we hear the phrase "unacceptable behavior" this week.

I'll guess about a thousand times.

Both Dumbya and Jeb used the exact phrase today.

Geneva Convention? That was small potatoes compared to knocking off Habeas Corpus.
