Foley's Lawyer: He's Gay, He Was Molested, He Drinks

Well, here's that "bombshell."

At a press conference moments ago, Foley's lawyer David Roth announced that the lawmaker "asked" that the media be told that he was molested by a clergyman when between the ages of 13 and 15. It's part of the healing process, apparently. Roth added that "Mark explicitly reaffirms his responsibility and remorse" for his actions.

Also, "Mark Foley wants you to know that he is a gay man."

What a pathetic defense.

Foley will spend at least 30 days in a facility being treated for what Foley calls "alcoholism and related behavioral problems."

Colbert-Foley.jpg

Colbert started his show last night with FoleyGate, and even took blame for what happened

Video - WMV Video - QT

Colbert: "People are calling for Denny Hastert to step down and that is unfair. He is a former high school wrestling coach and what would he know about the sexual harassment of young boys. All he knows is if you pull it you ice it"

Colbert goes on to explain how he explained all these abbreviations used on the internet to Foley, with such as examples as STUD = Strong Teen Using Democracy.

(H/T Mike L. for the video)

You mean, you didn't know that Dr. Smith's famous line he often said, "Oh the pain....the pain....." was a sarcastic mimicking of Will's outcry as Smith boffed him? I thought everyone knew that. ;-)

Maybe Foley can make his mark in show business playing the movie version of this super hero saga. I mean, the Bush II era is strange now, but it can always get worse.
