MAGAZINE SHOCK: REPUBLICANS WILL HOLD CONGRESS

BARRON'S COVER Survivor!
The GOP Victory

By JIM MCTAGUE

JUBILANT DEMOCRATS SHOULD RECONSIDER their order for confetti and noisemakers, BARRON's claims in their next edition. The Democrats, as widely reported, are expecting GOP-weary voters to flock to the polls in two weeks and hand them control of the House for the first time in 12 years -- and perhaps the Senate, as well. Even some Republicans privately confess that they are anticipating the election-day equivalent of Little Big Horn. Pardon our hubris, but we just don't see it.

Our analysis -- based on a race-by-race examination of campaign-finance data -- suggests that the GOP will hang on to both chambers, at least nominally. We expect the Republican majority in the House to fall by eight seats, to 224 of the chamber's 435. At the very worst, our analysis suggests, the party's loss could be as large as 14 seats, leaving a one-seat majority. But that is still a far cry from the 20-seat loss some are predicting. In the Senate, with 100 seats, we see the GOP winding up with 52, down three.

If the GOP holds on to Congress by election theft, this country's gonna come unglued. The scary thing is, that might be exactly what the neo-fascists want. Subscribe to *Restore the Republic*

That's why Rove is still smug and smiling.

based on a race-by-race examination of campaign-finance data

it is very true that there is almost always a perfect correlation between who raises the most money and who wins.

but everyone who knows anything knows that the republicans are very unpopular. and you're right arator, it is very scary that it may be what the fascists want, for us to all see them cheating and for confrontation to occur. they want confrontation. how else can they jail their opponents and impose further police-state rule.

If they steal this election, they're going to lose the people who have been Repukes for decades and put up with these clowns because they were winning. Everyone wants to win. But the head of the GOP district party that backed Henry Hyde for decades just jumped to the Dem party and endorsed Tammy Duckworth. The real republicans (as opposed to the fascist repukes) are going to go ballistic, along with all the Dems, if they steal this one.

They might hold both houses, just barely, but the sane Republicans, like Richard Lugar, etc., will start voting with the Dems, knowing what will happen in 08.

I think we are at the point that if the Repukes win this one, they destroy their party. It's going to be an ugly, ugly two years, and then the landslide will destroy them.

Give it up. Democrats have millions of people either registered twice or voting illegally because they are aliens. They oppose making voters identify themselves so election fraud is made easy. I have seen a lot of evidence from the Democrats claiming Republican vote fraud from machines that were actually in the control of elected Democratic officials.

If the Democrats want to win elections try these issues:

1) Seal the borders.

2) Audit federal government contracts. We lose at least 2 billion dollars a week to the Bilderbergers, the CFR and their friends who feel they have the divine right to steal our money.

3) Run ads explaining how WTC Towers 1, 2 and 7 were taken down by controlled demolition.

The elections won't be stolen. They don't have to do that. The system is so sceloric and ossified that even obvious corruptioin and a disasterous war can't change it. It is time for people to wake up- voting doesn't do anything.

You have 435 congressional districts gerrymandered down to the block with sophisticated computer programs that even project out population changes due to projected property values. Each fraud party has a core of ideological voters that votes for their party no matter what and congressional disticts are arrainged along these lines. Nothing is presented as black or white- real and unreal- everything is just an ideologically motivated opinion and whom you believe- what your reality is- depends on what party label you wear. Beyond that, the parties in congressional districts with economic interests that can be effected by DC (which are all economic interests as DC lays claim to regulate everything) have a direct stake in maintaining an incumbent because his power only increases with time in DC and his Pork drawing ability. It doesn't pay to oust your congressmen even for the most obscene transgressions.

Of 435 seats- some 30 are even considered competitive races. In order to just maintain the fiction of our elections- the "oppossition" in many of these races have to be cajoled to run even though they don't have a prayer and they know it. And even with this effort to put up fake candidates and sacrificial lambs- a full third of congressmen will be running unoppossed (third party challenges not even worth mentioning).

Before you get depressed- the upside of the GOP holding onto power is that the complete corruption of the Federal cess pool cannot be denied except by the most obtuse. It will be awfully tough for anyone with a shred of credibility as a political pundit to not mention the rigidity of the system- and its inability to change.

I wanted to look up ossified and sceloric as I am not familiar with those words, and found ossified to mean this:

Set in a rigidly conventional pattern of behaviour, habits, or beliefs "an ossified bureaucratic system"

I know I am not the only one who does not know the meanings of these words so I am posting it for those who would never want to come out and admit to not knowing the definition of words they run across.

However when I looked up the definition of sceloric, I could not find anything, except a few sites where that word is used. Is this a recently coined word that only a few individuals are aware of? I'm just curious because I have a thing for words.

Good post.

I spelled it wrong it is "sclerotic" relating to sclerosis- which is a disease that is sorta like arthritis on crack- hardening arteries and organ tissue. In a political context it means an inability to adapt, change, or compromise.

Thanks! Even today I was wondering what that word means, and if I was going to have to track down a dictionary that contains every word ever used in the English language.

I'm glad to know what that means, thanks again.
