WEST PALM BEACH -- Conservative columnist Ann Coulter has refused to cooperate in an investigation about whether she voted in the wrong precinct, so the case will likely be turned over to state prosecutors, Palm Beach County's elections chief said Wednesday.

Elections Supervisor Arthur Anderson said his office has been looking into the matter for nearly nine months, and he would turn over the case to the state attorney's office by Friday.

Coulter's attorney did not immediately return a telephone message Wednesday and her telephone number in Palm Beach is unpublished. A message left for Tara Gilbride, a publicist for Coulter's publisher, The Crown Publishing Group, owned by Random House Inc., was also not immediately returned.

Anderson's office received a complaint in February that Coulter allegedly voted in the wrong precinct during a Feb. 7 Palm Beach town council election. Since then, Anderson said he has made repeated attempts to resolve the matter with Coulter and her attorney but has been rebuffed.

Anderson said an initial letter was sent to Coulter on March 27 requesting that she clarify her address for the voting records ``or face the possibility of her voter registration being rescinded.''

Three more letters were sent to Coulter and her attorney over the next several months, but she has yet to respond with the information requested, Anderson said.

In July, Anderson said, he received a letter from Coulter's attorney, Marcos Daniel Jimenez D'Clouet. The letter said the attorney would only discuss the matter in person or by telephone because he complained Anderson had given details to the media. Anderson said the matter had to be discussed in writing.

Knowingly voting in a wrong precinct is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison, said Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for the state attorney's office in West Palm Beach.

Edmondson said his office generally reviews such cases, then turns them over to local authorities for a full investigation that could result in an arrest if intent is proven.

So, she used a buddy's address to keep her real address out of public records so stalkers and psychos can't easily locate her.

Too bad, but, if she wants to be famous and despised then there are consequences....

Either don't vote or, accept that she cannot have a home in FLA unless she pays for the necessary security.

Although hers was a technical violation for understandible reasons, it's also indicative of the sense of entitlement that these elitists have for themselves.

She probably lives in a security bldg in NY, but, that's not so common in Palm Beach county.

In any event either George or Jeb can and will pardon her so, she's not worried about jail time or even a felony conviction.

They don't give a crap about hundreds of thousands of illegals voting so why make a big deal about this. No voter ID is required so who's at fault here.

Bull shit. We care about the Republican cheating in regards to the vote, and illegal aliens do not vote en mass, bot boy.

Our troops take an oath promising to protect uswe need to promise to protect them too.

In the last election, was it the blacks or the mexicans..or just the democrats who screamed bloody murder because they wanted to vote anywhere they damwell pleased?

Coulter is not a hero of mine, but I don't enjoy the targeting of her.. because it is complete hypocrisy.

Sorry,,I call 'em like I see 'em.

They don't give a crap about hundreds of thousands of illegals voting so why make a big deal about this. No voter ID is required so who's at fault here.

First, she was legally entitled to choose FLA as her primary residence and to vote. So, "them votin' illegals" is not a good smokescreen. And, if you're saying that "no ID required" invites AND excuses abuse then YOUR confused morality is fair game.

If Republicans wish to use their paid kneecapper contractadoras to dump thousands who have the same name when only ONE had a felony record and was therefore ineligible to vote, then they can hardly complain through their agents provocateur that this incident is no "big deal". (Hey, did you hear the latest? Nobody named "Willie Tate" or "Willie Smith" voted in the whole state!)

Abuse of the records served the PUBS well and Coulter thought it was great. So, it's a bit of poetic justice that Coulter couldn't vote without committing a felony and the records prove it. And, no abuse was necessary because the records and the law are functioning exactly as intended. And, she didn't do it to protect the party or to try to squeeze in an extra vote. Her self indulgence as a connected celeb in the state resulted in her supreme arrogance and that monumentally stupid mistake.

Cheer up, Ann. At least they fingered the right person to prosecute, and AFTER you voted. And, you could have told the truth and voted so, the only reason you lied was you didn't want to keep your shades closed to keep out the telephoto lenses. Your cynical, smarmy lack of respect for justice has exposed all your inner beauty, even without the shaved shots.
