This guy was on TIME's list of the 25 most influential evangelicals in America. It doesn't get any bigger than this. And he's from Colorado. Wonder what Marilyn Musgrave has to say about this? From 9News in Denver: A gay man and admitted male escort claims he has had an ongoing sexual relationship with a well-known Evangelical pastor from Colorado Springs. Mike Jones told '9 Wants to Know' Investigative Reporter Paula Woodward he has had a "sexual business" relationship with Pastor Ted Haggard for the past three years. Haggard is the founder and senior leader of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs. The church has 14,000 members. He is also president of the National Association of Evangelicals, an organization that represents millions of people. Haggard is married with five children and an outspoken critic of gay marriage.... Jones started talking to 9 Wants to Know two months ago. He claims Haggard has been paying him for sex over the past three years, even though Haggard preaches that homosexuality is a sin. Jones also claims Haggard used methamphetamine in his presence on several occasions.... Former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw profiled Haggard in 2005 in a series on mega-churches. Haggard was also listed by Time magazine as one of the 25 most influential Evangelicals in America last year. 9News also has their TV broadcast on this story online here.

I don't know of any Christians who are represented by the NAE -- whether members of mainline denominations, nondenominational churches, pentacostal churches, or small Presbyterian or Baptist denominations. They may be members of churches that are members of the NAE, but the NAE means nothing to them. For all I know, the NAE may have the ear of everyone on Capitol Hill, but they have no voice outside of it.
Nice. These revelations if true couldn't happen to a more deserving grandstander. I had no idea that there was a "National Association" of Evangelicals - only in America.

Yes- I would reserve judgement on this. Even evil rapture monkies deserve a modicum of due diligence before the accussations of one lone voice are broadcast media wide.

Harper's magazine had a big article on this guy last year (Inside America's most powerful megachurch with Pastor Ted Haggard). An excerpt: No pastor in America holds more sway over the political direction of evangelicalism than does Pastor Ted, and no church more than New Life. It is by no means the largest megachurch, nor is Ted the best-known man of God: Saddleback Church, in southern California, counts 80,000 on its rolls, and its pastor, Rick Warren, has sold 20 million copies of his book The Purpose-Driven Life. But Warren's success has come at the price of passion; his doctrine, though conservative, is bland and his politics too obscured by his self-help message to be potent. Although other churches boast more eminent memberships than Pastor Ted's - near D.C., for example, McLean Bible Church and The Falls Church (an Episcopal church that is, like many "mainline" churches today, now evangelical in all but name) minister to the powerful - such churches are not, like New Life, crucibles for the ideas that inspire the movement, ideas that are forged in the middle of the country and make their way to Washington only over time. Evangelicalism is as much an intellectual as an emotional movement; and what Pastor Ted has built in Colorado Springs is not just a battalion of spiritual warriors but a factory for ideas to arm them.
I don't know....either way...........but I can guarantee that IF IT IS A LIE, this queer fella would have done more harm to his cause than just about anything else. Talk about being the spawn of Satan--there would be your proof. JMO.
