Title: Lieberman, Vice-President of the United States?

The scenario is simple:

The Demos + Lieby add up to 51 senate seats. CT gets a GOP gov'nor.

Rove offers Libby the Ministry of War but Lieby says 'no'. Cheney ups the ante and suggests Secy of the State. Lieby disagrees.

W makes the final phone call and offers Libby the VP-ship if he agrees to support the Bush in the senate when it counts and Lieby says 'YES, YES, YES!!!'

The CT gov'nor names a GOP to replace Lieby.

And... VOILA - the GOPs get back the Senate.

Rockefeller came within one gunshot of being president.

I do not see any benefit for Lieberman to take VP and turn down Secty of Defense. I could see him turning down Secty of State - not much power there as opposed to Secty of Defense ( at least to suit Lieberman's ambitions).

Apart from voting for war 24/7, Joel is a Democrat on all other issues.

The GOP will pluck some guy they think might be able to run for President in and plunk him in VP at the end of 2007 - maybe give him 1 year of exposure before the election so he does not get too icky sticky with GWB caca.

Joe Lieberman is yesterday's news as far as serving as VP. He tried, he failed, end of story. But I think the DC elites are clamoring to put Joe in Rumdum's position to march on Iran with conscripted warm bodies. Rumdum is a no go on either issue.

And when did being alive have anything to do with holding a position in government? Stalin? Alive. Lenin? Alive.

The purpose of making Lieby VP is for the GOP to control the Senate's agenda.

It is unlikely that the Democrats will need the VP's tie breaking vote, if that is what you mean.

All the GOPs need is for Lieby to cast the tie-breaking when deciding which party names the committee chairmanships and therefore controls the agenda.

Why does any of that matter, really? When the President can add a signing statement to anything, what difference does it make?? Not a dimes worth of damn. None.

Harborers of two party religion, please get over it.

Who controls the senate is not important to me. To Bush and Rove, however, it is.

Think of the possibility of a Bush impeachment drive.

Thinking of it is not going make it happen.

Dem's are not a different party. Just the left wing of the same bird.

Some of them may try to impeach the Bush and control of both houses would embolden them.

It would be important for the next congress to rollback the prez power because if they don't, then we would be irreversibly set on the path to some form of nearly-absolute monarchy, supported by an ever growing and increasingly intrusive state machine. If Lieberman becomes VP and the GOPs get to control the senate agenda, it would no be possible to rollback the prez power grab.

All of this, COULD have set in motion already... all of it. But, as you see, they work in concert with bipartisan BS, and not a word about what helps and protects the American citizen.. only their own power..

Think of the possibility of a Bush impeachment drive.

Nancy Pelosi has already announced that impeachment is "off the table." She said it "would be a waste of time."

Two rival political parties? No, just 2 sides of the same coin.

Also even if Bush were impeached, America would be left with President Cheney at the helm. Thanks but no thanks. If I have to choose my nation's poison, I'll go with the one known rather than the one unknown.

One can be more painful than the other. One may not be deadly - just cause a bad bout of malaise from which the body politic may recover as the poison passes through the system.

My best guess is that a President Cheney would be deadly for the republic and the poison would cause a lot of pain on the journey.

My best guess is that Cheney would be marvelous for the republic as it would no doubt awake a great deal of the sheeple..

I would not object to the creation of a 4th branch of gov't - the 'executioners' branch, to make sure that the checks stay balanced but I doubt that most citizens/consumers are mature enough to support this.
