WILMINGTON – Two months after being released from prison for shooting at someone, 16-year-old Marquis Mason is now waiting to be arraigned on murder charges. Mason, of the 800 block of Bennett St., was originally sentenced to three years in prison for firing five shots at another man on April 20. His prison stay was shortened to four months and eight days by a Superior Court judge, who ordered that the remaining 32 months be served at different levels of probation. Mason, who was released on Sept. 1, is now charged with the Oct. 31 first-degree murder of Parrish Johnson, as well as two weapon charges. The teen will be arraigned Nov. 22 on the charges.

The law is a joke. This guy serves a little over four months for trying to murder a guy by firing five shots at him -- and in Illinois the fine for driving without insurance is an automatic $1000. I guess money is more important than protecting society.

Yeah, shooting some soul brutha is no big deal, but if you try to impoverish and starve an insurance company stockholder then you're a real criminal!
