Hey all! I could use some advice. As some of you know, I have been fighting some health issues for quite some time. I have been to more doctors and specialists then my memory can hold and take so many pills that I am called the Department Pharmacy at work.

I have come to you - oh great and all knowing people of healthy stuff, for advice. Zip and Chris know that I have a few permanent conditions that I don't want to share, but I have some really odd non-related stuff as well.

1. The corners of my mouth crack and bleed for no reason. My son says it scares him because he is afraid that it means that my mouth is getting bigger. Anyways, I have seen multiple causes for this - but no real cures. Are there any vitamins that I should be taking to help at least prevent this?

2. I have NO energy, I am nearly always half asleep no matter how much I drink cofee.

3. I have no apetite. A few of my meds cause this - but is there something out there that I can take to stimulate my apetite?

4. My immune system sucks eggs - this is due to a few meds too - but is there anything *natural* that I should take to try to boost it?

And on a side note - pay no attention to Zip when she starts yelling at me to go to the doctor - I hate going to the doctors.

;0)

Thanks for any ideas you offer!

Zinc

When I took extra zinc for a while I noticed it improved my sense of smell. Not a little, but a lot.

1. The corners of my mouth crack and bleed for no reason.

Try a homeopathic remedy for this. Is there a Whole Foods store near you? Or maybe a Wild Oats? Look for the little blue tubes named Boiron. You take these little white pills and dissolve them under your tongue. I recall there is one which is used for the problem of cracking lips but I do not remember the exact name of the mineral.

There are also a few good books along with the display so you can read up on how this works and what to do with it. If that particular brand is not available, then use something similar from a good health foods store.

Homeopathy has been around a lot longer than those guys wearing the white coats, allopathic physicians. The basic premise is, and always has been, that like cures like. If you were healthy and ingested a small amount of a certain thing, you would become ill. The same holds in reverse. If you are ill, you ingest a small amount of a specific mineral and it cures the ill. It is used with great success also with animals.

Is this chronic fatigue syndrome? If so, there are ways to fix it, and the docs will do no good at all, since the problem lies in nutrition (our food lacks nutrition because the soils are depleted of humus and excessive use of fertilizers and ag chemicals) and taking proper supplements.

Toxicity could also be a factor since we are all full of poisons created by the chemical companies and also the chemicals used in agriculture and in the foods we eat. I can come up with a few suggestions based on what you can tell me further.

The meds are a problem, even if they have been cross checked for side effects and such.

I have a friend who is a herbologist and he says it all comes back to what we eat. Most of peoples problems can be fixed with a healthy diet and a total body cleansing.

The problem of a healthy diet goes back again to the lack of good farming practices. The chemical paradigm is the worst thing to happen to agriculture. And it would not be this way if we had opted to use the natural methods which have been known since before chemical agriculture got its start after WW II.

Yes, there are several things. Basically, you must realize that these problems relate to poor nutrition. I hate to beat on the same drum over and over, but the truth of the matter is that we have poor nutrition and all of the stress and toxins in the environment take its toll on our health, day by day.

Lactoferrin is a good supplement to boost the immune system. And also a good herb is echinacea purprea, or purple coneflower, or its relative echinacea augustifolia, Kansas Snakeroot. There are others.

A good one to take if you get sick is Olive Leaf extract. At least 15% Oleuropein would be the best strength, and you would need a therapeutice dose to start and reduce the number ovr a period of days. It works like antibiotic but it does not kill the good stuff in your gut.

BTW, Type II or adult onset diabetes is called Syndrome X in Britain. The sugar problem is really a result of insulin rejection. This problem is basically your body saying it is tired of all the abuse from chemicals, drugs and other factors. The body's organs are literally shutting down and this is the result.

A good liver cleansing will also help. Some use a coffee enema in extreme cases, but I think you might try Alpha Lipoic Acid and Milk Thistle extract. Both have been shown to be liver cleansing and regenerative substances.

I can also send you to a site later for a nutritional drink that is having great results. And I can turn you on to a good cleansing substance made from a zeolite mineral. The substance grabs toxins and flushes them out of your system. And, unlike using chelation therapy, this zeolite will not remove calcium or other beneficial minerals, which have to be replaced.

More later. Have to make some breakfast now.

Gin soaked raisins - I've got to try this one

Newsgroups: alt.folklore.herbs Subject: Re: Arthritus From: Star Dancer >http:// Date: 5 Aug 1995 01:59:37 GMT

My mother six months ago was facing total knee replacements because of arthritis. Two months ago she started taking an old wives remedy. Last week we went to the beach, walked for hours in the flea market and went shopping all weekend long. The recipe for this is

1 lb of GOLDEN raisins. (they must be the golden ones) 1/2 pint of gin.

you place the raisins into a bowl and pour the gin over them. Leave them sit on the counter uncovered until the gin has been absorbed into the raisins. This also dissipates the alcohol. When the raisins have absorbed all the liquid cover them and put them in the refrigerator. Eat 9 of these raisins every day. It took about 5 weeks or so for the effects to be as they are. I watched her walking better every day after about the 5th week. All of a sudden it occurred to her that she was walking without limping again. The change in her has been wonderful.

From: gail miller >http://

My cousin eats ten gin soaked white raisins every night and appears to have great success making the arthritic pain in her hands subside. She covers the raisins with gin in a jar for two weeks, adding gin if necessary as it is absorbed by the raisins to keep them covered. Anybody else have experience with this?

From: http://cherridge.delphi.com Connor

>Does anyone know of any herbs that help reduce the pain of severe arthritis?

Yes, Take two pounds of white raisens commonly called 'golden' raisens and mix in a pint of gin. Stir it occasionally for two days until all of the alcohol has evaporated and the gin has completely soaked into the raisens. . Eat only 10 raisens a day. It will take about two months for the pain to completely stop.

From: http://p_iannone.pop.com (Paul Iannone)

: Take two pounds of white raisens commonly called 'golden' raisens and mix in a pint of gin.

Commonly called sulfured raisins. The sulphites used in these raisins (to change their color and preserve them) are not very healthy for you, and if you want to drink gin, just go ahead and do it. Such use of alcohol to kill arthritis pain is not new (!), nor is it healthful if the problem is associated with reddened joints or liver problems.

It would make vastly more sense to drink an alcohol extract of the proper herbal arthritis formula.

From: http://tatyana.blarg.com

: Take two pounds of white raisins commonly called 'golden' raisins and mix in a pint of gin.

As much as I wish it were true, this does NOT work. Alcohol has been a long time pain reliever in many countries, that's all this will do. Unfortunately there isn't even enough in the raisins to have much of an effect. I have heard, though, that evening primrose whatever helps with arthritis. This was recently posted in the arthritis newsgroups (about the raisins).

Zinc

Chelated zinc is the best. The amino acid grabs the zinc ion like a claw and transports it to your cells for use where it is released.

I eat lots of raw foods (plant derived) and very little meat, usually only five times a week. I also love kefir YertleTurtle mentioned, Nancy's Kefir by Springfield Dairy run by Ken Kesey's wife being far and above the best of any I've tried made anywhere else.

I ride my bicycle and this time of year I used to do a punishing amount of miles and interval work, but at 52 I do lots of miles and if the boys doing sprints every other sign come along my route, I wave, chat and watch them go go go.

I only ride around 200-300 miles a week these days, but I am passionately addicted to riding and do ninety percent of my best thinking in saddle.

I also fast this time of year, last week I did a three day, and find it helps with seasonal depression which I also use full spectrum lights for.

I am very muscular and get mistaken for someone much younger, and my legs are so big in the thighs I can't remotely fit into Levi 501s my waist size (31) because of the leg muscle.

My resting pulse is around 52 usually and last year I tried a couple of beers a couple of times a week, the first alcohol I had drank since 1989, and decided I hated it worse then I did when I did drink which was only while in the Army to socialize. I just don't like drinking anything I have to recover from.

Both my brothers are younger and eat and drink the usual American diet and are plump, and look older them me.

Did you read the advice Arator gave in #3?

I agree totally with him. And like I have stated many times on this forum - we are told in Scripture to avoid witchcraft, and if you look up the word witchcraft in Strong's concordance you'll find it was translated from the Greek word pharmakia.

God told us He gave us everything we need. And doctors prescribing pharmaceuticals isn't something we need!! In fact we were told to avoid them!!

I'm very inclined to think that the lack of energy and most (if not all) other symptoms you have are a direct result of the "meds" these witchcraft practioners are feeding you.

But to be able to recommend anything specifically to treat one thing or another I would have to know more about what the cause is. For example, if you are taking medications for your heart, I would recommend getting on a heavy regimen of cayenne pepper (you can get cayenne in pill form at a health food store) - cayenne is excellent for heart and circulation conditions. I know a man in his mid 70's that suffered a major heart attack (with 75% damage) about 25 years ago, and was put on heart meds. He had no energy, and generally felt poorly. Then he decided he needed to try something natural and after consulting with an herbalist started taking cayenne.. Today he can run several miles, ride a horse all day long, and generally acts more healthy than most men half his age. But again, I would need to know specifics of the "disease" to be able to make any recommendations other than good nutrition. After all, we are what we eat!!

You mentioned fatigue. Fatigue is merely a symptom, NOT a disease in and of itself. Chronic fatigue is generally caused by a high-fat and refined carbohydrate diet, along with emotional stress. The meds you are taking are very likely only making matters worse!! You should make sure to get adequate rest, exercise, and a well balanced diet. It probably wouldn't hurt to take a high quality multi-vitamin (get something from a health food store - NOT Walmart!). As far as herbal goes, wheatgrass and gensing (again, health food store!) should help..

As for cracking in the corners of your mouth, this is known as cheilosis - and a root cause is a lack of vitamin B2. Again, the multivitamin should help, but it might not hurt to take an extra supplement of B2. Make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. Don't use commercial lip balms - instead use either cocoa butter, or better yet make your own lip balm from one of the two following recipies:

(A)Mix 30 drops of lavender essential oil, 16 drops of sandalwood essential oil, and 2 oz cocoa butter.

(B)Using a small dish in a pan of boiling water, melt 1 Tbsp beeswax, and stir in 3 Tbsp olive oil. Pour into small containers with tight fitting lids (like Carmex jars).

As for poor appetite - again, a symptom - NOT a disease in and of itself. Your assessment is right, the meds you are on are probably the biggest cause; but heavy metal poisoning, nutritional deficiencies, depression, or stress can also be culprits. I don't know of anything herbal to recommend, but a few things you can do (besides getting weaned from the snake venom and monkey pus the doctor has you on) are: *Don't drink liquids immediately before a meal (they fill the stomach, and you don't want anything else) *Eat smaller meals, but more of them (and eat quality foods) *Get outside and walk after meals (the great outdoors has many benefits including fresh air and sunlight - both of which are vital to good health)

And finally for the immune system. Once again the biggest destroyer is your damned doctor and the crap he/she has you on!! And once again, the best cure is to get weaned off the meds, and start eating healty wholesome meals. The multi-vitamin supplement should help, and you need to make sure to get plenty of exercise in the great outdoors...

And one last thing - this isn't something people would ever want to admit, but the truth is 95% of the American population has parasites!! Yep, we're loaded with "worms"!! The range of symptoms from parasite infestation are almost beyond belief, WAY too many to POSSIBLY try to list here. I would highly recommend that you do a good "deworming" program. The 2 best I can recommend are: (A)A teaspoon of diometacious earth sprinkled on your food, and (B)A concoction made up by the following recipe:

Fill a pint jar half-full with black walnut hulls, and pour just enough vodka over them to cover them. Let this sit for 3 weeks, and then take 1 tablespoonful daily. (Caution - this is gonna taste nasty!!!)

Hope this helps!!! BUT ABOVE ALL - YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO TAKE ARATOR'S ADVICE, AND GET OFF THE DAMNED PHARMACEUTICALS!!!!

Some people are like slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, except to put a smile on your face when you push them down stairs.

BINGO!!!!!! I don't think there is anything in a commercial grocery store that is fit for human consumption!!! No matter how much work is involved, the best thing to do is grow your own garden, and do it organically!!

And I can't stress enough the importance of GOOD water. Forget the bottled stuff, it's subject to have the flouride and crap in it too. You may as well drink straight tap water if you're gonna pay for the bottled stuff. I highly recommend a Berkey!! Since I started using a Berkey, I've found that it's the only thing that truly quenches my thirst!!

I just put one up too. Check the shipping? IIRC, my site didn't charge to ship.

there's a lot of great advice on this thread, and a couple really good links too.

I agree with Arator, Whoknowswhatevil, lodwick & innieway. and Ferret is too slim and strong for his age - I'm going to alert Sheriff Joe and he's going to send some people up to Oregon to stop him from making me look bad.

Obviously though if the drugs are treating existing conditions that have to be dealt with you might not be able to just get off them. but it might be worth considering getting rid of some of them at least. all of them if possible.

I'd recommend eliminating coffee if you drink a lot of it. Coffee in excess can be really bad. Lots of coffee causes dehydration which is very bad for your health. Drink lots of water - water therapy treats any condition and prevents health problems. Green tea is a good substitute to coffee. In the morning I put some green tea bags in water and nuke it in microwave, then I dump lots of ice in for iced tea. It is much better than coffee.

change up your diet - eat as much as possible things that actually grow from the earth with no processing at all. and drink lots of water.

Plenty of black walnuts out here. Maybe I will try this, but I try to avoid alcohol if possible.

I have a big ol black walnut tree right outside my back door, and it's always loaded...

The vodka is used in many herbal remedies, as it soaks the desired "goodie" out of the base ingredient. And this tiny amount of alcohol you'll be ingesting won't hurt. In fact, you sure won't taste the vodka... You can soak garlic cloves in vodka for about an hour and taste the vodka - it'll taste like garlic oil.

Coconut oil (sweet, and great for cooking)

My source for coconut goodies. (Thanx and a 'hat tip' to Dr. Mercola.)

Is this for detox, as well? I try to get plenty of garlic into my diet, but I am not familiar with this...
