Hey all! I could use some advice. As some of you know, I have been fighting some health issues for quite some time. I have been to more doctors and specialists then my memory can hold and take so many pills that I am called the Department Pharmacy at work.

I have come to you - oh great and all knowing people of healthy stuff, for advice. Zip and Chris know that I have a few permanent conditions that I don't want to share, but I have some really odd non-related stuff as well.

1. The corners of my mouth crack and bleed for no reason. My son says it scares him because he is afraid that it means that my mouth is getting bigger. Anyways, I have seen multiple causes for this - but no real cures. Are there any vitamins that I should be taking to help at least prevent this?

2. I have NO energy, I am nearly always half asleep no matter how much I drink cofee.

3. I have no apetite. A few of my meds cause this - but is there something out there that I can take to stimulate my apetite?

4. My immune system sucks eggs - this is due to a few meds too - but is there anything *natural* that I should take to try to boost it?

And on a side note - pay no attention to Zip when she starts yelling at me to go to the doctor - I hate going to the doctors.

;0)

Thanks for any ideas you offer!

I would suggest that you review all the drugs you are taking for side effects, negative interactions and harmful synergies.

My family's just been through an interesting experience with my grandma. We discovered that all of the problems attributed to the infeeblement of old age that she was being drugged for were really induced by the drugs themselves. It was a vicious chain. She was prescribed one drug which caused horrible side effects, then another to treat the side effects, which had it's own negative side effects, then another to treat those side effects and on and on.

So, we got her off the drugs and the change has been remarkable. We've got our old grandmother back. Most of her problems were drug induced.

Be very careful with pharmacuticals. Most doctors just prescribe them like candy and do not understand themselves the damage that they do. They are continually bathed in drug company propaganda and are practically remote controlled by Big Pharma.

So, first research the side effects of every medication you are taking.

Investigate any synergies or negative interactions between the drugs you take.

Identify any drugs that do more harm than good and get them out of your system, ASAP.

Then build your system up through good nutrition. That's the best medicine of all.

Thanks A - but the drugs have been reviewed and re-reviewed (I have a great doc, btw) and there has been a huge improvement in my way of life since I started taking them.

I also walk every day for those who wonder, so it's can't be lack of exercise.

It was a vicious chain. She was prescribed one drug which caused horrible side effects, then another to treat the side effects, which had it's own negative side effects, then another to treat those side effects and on and on.

That's the plan...the more drugs 'Big Pharma' can sell; the more money they make. They are NOT interested in a cure (see various fund raising scams like 'Race for the Cure'); they are interested in 'managing' your symptoms by filling you with as many pills as they can without killing you...until more customers to replace you come along...then your *ss is expendable. The BEST thing you can do is try to get as much medication out of your life as possible. My wife, on her own, REVERSED her 'Type 2 diabetes' with diet and exercise, even though "doctors" INSISTED that she take the appropriate medications. (We went with our own research, and made contact with an OUTSTANDING nutrionist.) Pharmaceuticals kill thousands and thousands and thousands of people every year. A great site for personal research is News Target...one of the BEST I have ever seen. Click here to check it out. Innieway had another excellent site, but I can't scare it up at the moment.

well on the diabetes.. a lot has to do with diet/weight control.. and the diet given by most docs isnt all that helpful.. eliminate the carbs.. and there will be an improvement.. most diabetic diets still include carbs which of course is the problem.. dealing with sugars.

You're right...they aren't trying to help you; they want you on the medication. One nurse told my wife it was "her JOB to get her on medication". That's a QUOTE! You are dead right about the carbs. I am in my 50's, and my wife in her 40's, and NEITHER of us is on ANY medication. We are told by physicians we work with that finding a couple like that nowadays is nigh impossible. My wife now weighs the same as she did when I met her at the age of seventeen. Eat your heart out, guys. :-)

well on the diabetes

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts all diabetes are short on Vitamin D, which isn't a vitamin but a steroid hormone.

A lack of it has been associated with diabetes, high blood pressure, strokes, colds, flu, and a half a dozen cancers.

I've got blond hair and blue eyes, and the last time I saw the doctor (in the winter) he tested the Vitamin D in my blood and told me I had only half what I should have. He told me to take cod liver oil during the winter. So I did, and the change in how I feel during the winter has been very noticeable.

Very good advice...twenty minutes of early-morning sun exposure has been discussed here before, but that can be difficult in many areas of the world...cod liver oil (gag) is good advice...there are a number of flavored ones out there. (The liver flavored stuff rocks!)

i do remember reading an article about Germany in WW2.. of course there was a food shortage.. and diabetes was virtually eliminated in Germany .. I searched for the article not seeing it but what I did find which I found interesting was something from some researchers that theorize that the famine in Germany killed off those who have a genetic predisposition for diabetes :P

Vitamin D is extremely important as we've seen from several articles .. medically researched not just theories.. and people in the west just dont have the opportunity to spend that much time in the sun.. plus we've been told that sun exposure is a bad bad thing .. and although it's added to milk it's enough to keep some diseases at bay but its very minimal.. people do need to take supplements .. and not just what's in a multivitamin.

LOL. If they only knew that aspartame causes them to GAIN weight.

America is so screwed. Most of us have our immune systems wrecked as infants by vaccines, eat garbage, then take poisonous symptom-maskers/multipliers (otherwise known as drugs) to "compensate" for our half-starved and half-toxic body's inevitable dysfunction, then die miserably and way too early. Our system is systematically killing us.

Starting with the simplest things first:

Sleep - 8 hours every night - we have the SelectComfort mattress and love it.

Hydration - I don't believe that we can have too much pure water - Berkey purification here.

Aspartame = poison. Don't use it.

Too much salt, either from processed food, or the shaker, can be harmful. Try using pepper or salt-free herbs for seasoning.

Be sure that each of the doctors know exactly what the others are prescribing, and that you use one pharmacist who can also evaluate all the possible drug interactions and advise you accordingly - a good pharmacist will know more about the meds than will most doctors who are given all sorts of crap by BigPharma's hottie pill pushers to hand out to their patients.

We take, among lots of other supplements:

Vit C - 2000mg

COQ10 - 300mg

Zymitol enzymes - as directed

DHEA

Melatonin

There's my starter's list not knowing any more than I do about your specific problems.

Good luck and best wishes.

Oddly, sea salt is good for you, and will lower blood pressure because of the trace minerals.

My unothodox M.D. told me half a teaspoon of sea salt a day, along with lots of pure water, would increase my energy.

1. The corners of my mouth crack and bleed for no reason.

Try a homeopathic remedy for this. Is there a Whole Foods store near you? Or maybe a Wild Oats? Look for the little blue tubes named Boiron. You take these little white pills and dissolve them under your tongue. I recall there is one which is used for the problem of cracking lips but I do not remember the exact name of the mineral.

There are also a few good books along with the display so you can read up on how this works and what to do with it. If that particular brand is not available, then use something similar from a good health foods store.

Homeopathy has been around a lot longer than those guys wearing the white coats, allopathic physicians. The basic premise is, and always has been, that like cures like. If you were healthy and ingested a small amount of a certain thing, you would become ill. The same holds in reverse. If you are ill, you ingest a small amount of a specific mineral and it cures the ill. It is used with great success also with animals.

Is this chronic fatigue syndrome? If so, there are ways to fix it, and the docs will do no good at all, since the problem lies in nutrition (our food lacks nutrition because the soils are depleted of humus and excessive use of fertilizers and ag chemicals) and taking proper supplements.

Toxicity could also be a factor since we are all full of poisons created by the chemical companies and also the chemicals used in agriculture and in the foods we eat. I can come up with a few suggestions based on what you can tell me further.

The meds are a problem, even if they have been cross checked for side effects and such.

I have a friend who is a herbologist and he says it all comes back to what we eat. Most of peoples problems can be fixed with a healthy diet and a total body cleansing.

The problem of a healthy diet goes back again to the lack of good farming practices. The chemical paradigm is the worst thing to happen to agriculture. And it would not be this way if we had opted to use the natural methods which have been known since before chemical agriculture got its start after WW II.

Yes, there are several things. Basically, you must realize that these problems relate to poor nutrition. I hate to beat on the same drum over and over, but the truth of the matter is that we have poor nutrition and all of the stress and toxins in the environment take its toll on our health, day by day.

Lactoferrin is a good supplement to boost the immune system. And also a good herb is echinacea purprea, or purple coneflower, or its relative echinacea augustifolia, Kansas Snakeroot. There are others.

A good one to take if you get sick is Olive Leaf extract. At least 15% Oleuropein would be the best strength, and you would need a therapeutice dose to start and reduce the number ovr a period of days. It works like antibiotic but it does not kill the good stuff in your gut.

BTW, Type II or adult onset diabetes is called Syndrome X in Britain. The sugar problem is really a result of insulin rejection. This problem is basically your body saying it is tired of all the abuse from chemicals, drugs and other factors. The body's organs are literally shutting down and this is the result.

A good liver cleansing will also help. Some use a coffee enema in extreme cases, but I think you might try Alpha Lipoic Acid and Milk Thistle extract. Both have been shown to be liver cleansing and regenerative substances.

I can also send you to a site later for a nutritional drink that is having great results. And I can turn you on to a good cleansing substance made from a zeolite mineral. The substance grabs toxins and flushes them out of your system. And, unlike using chelation therapy, this zeolite will not remove calcium or other beneficial minerals, which have to be replaced.

More later. Have to make some breakfast now.

Gin soaked raisins - I've got to try this one

Newsgroups: alt.folklore.herbs Subject: Re: Arthritus From: Star Dancer >http:// Date: 5 Aug 1995 01:59:37 GMT

My mother six months ago was facing total knee replacements because of arthritis. Two months ago she started taking an old wives remedy. Last week we went to the beach, walked for hours in the flea market and went shopping all weekend long. The recipe for this is

1 lb of GOLDEN raisins. (they must be the golden ones) 1/2 pint of gin.

you place the raisins into a bowl and pour the gin over them. Leave them sit on the counter uncovered until the gin has been absorbed into the raisins. This also dissipates the alcohol. When the raisins have absorbed all the liquid cover them and put them in the refrigerator. Eat 9 of these raisins every day. It took about 5 weeks or so for the effects to be as they are. I watched her walking better every day after about the 5th week. All of a sudden it occurred to her that she was walking without limping again. The change in her has been wonderful.

From: gail miller >http://

My cousin eats ten gin soaked white raisins every night and appears to have great success making the arthritic pain in her hands subside. She covers the raisins with gin in a jar for two weeks, adding gin if necessary as it is absorbed by the raisins to keep them covered. Anybody else have experience with this?

From: http://cherridge.delphi.com Connor

>Does anyone know of any herbs that help reduce the pain of severe arthritis?

Yes, Take two pounds of white raisens commonly called 'golden' raisens and mix in a pint of gin. Stir it occasionally for two days until all of the alcohol has evaporated and the gin has completely soaked into the raisens. . Eat only 10 raisens a day. It will take about two months for the pain to completely stop.

From: http://p_iannone.pop.com (Paul Iannone)

: Take two pounds of white raisens commonly called 'golden' raisens and mix in a pint of gin.

Commonly called sulfured raisins. The sulphites used in these raisins (to change their color and preserve them) are not very healthy for you, and if you want to drink gin, just go ahead and do it. Such use of alcohol to kill arthritis pain is not new (!), nor is it healthful if the problem is associated with reddened joints or liver problems.

It would make vastly more sense to drink an alcohol extract of the proper herbal arthritis formula.

From: http://tatyana.blarg.com

: Take two pounds of white raisins commonly called 'golden' raisins and mix in a pint of gin.

As much as I wish it were true, this does NOT work. Alcohol has been a long time pain reliever in many countries, that's all this will do. Unfortunately there isn't even enough in the raisins to have much of an effect. I have heard, though, that evening primrose whatever helps with arthritis. This was recently posted in the arthritis newsgroups (about the raisins).

Zinc

Chelated zinc is the best. The amino acid grabs the zinc ion like a claw and transports it to your cells for use where it is released.

I eat lots of raw foods (plant derived) and very little meat, usually only five times a week. I also love kefir YertleTurtle mentioned, Nancy's Kefir by Springfield Dairy run by Ken Kesey's wife being far and above the best of any I've tried made anywhere else.

I ride my bicycle and this time of year I used to do a punishing amount of miles and interval work, but at 52 I do lots of miles and if the boys doing sprints every other sign come along my route, I wave, chat and watch them go go go.

I only ride around 200-300 miles a week these days, but I am passionately addicted to riding and do ninety percent of my best thinking in saddle.

I also fast this time of year, last week I did a three day, and find it helps with seasonal depression which I also use full spectrum lights for.

I am very muscular and get mistaken for someone much younger, and my legs are so big in the thighs I can't remotely fit into Levi 501s my waist size (31) because of the leg muscle.

My resting pulse is around 52 usually and last year I tried a couple of beers a couple of times a week, the first alcohol I had drank since 1989, and decided I hated it worse then I did when I did drink which was only while in the Army to socialize. I just don't like drinking anything I have to recover from.

Both my brothers are younger and eat and drink the usual American diet and are plump, and look older them me.

Did you read the advice Arator gave in #3?

I agree totally with him. And like I have stated many times on this forum - we are told in Scripture to avoid witchcraft, and if you look up the word witchcraft in Strong's concordance you'll find it was translated from the Greek word pharmakia.

God told us He gave us everything we need. And doctors prescribing pharmaceuticals isn't something we need!! In fact we were told to avoid them!!

I'm very inclined to think that the lack of energy and most (if not all) other symptoms you have are a direct result of the "meds" these witchcraft practioners are feeding you.

But to be able to recommend anything specifically to treat one thing or another I would have to know more about what the cause is. For example, if you are taking medications for your heart, I would recommend getting on a heavy regimen of cayenne pepper (you can get cayenne in pill form at a health food store) - cayenne is excellent for heart and circulation conditions. I know a man in his mid 70's that suffered a major heart attack (with 75% damage) about 25 years ago, and was put on heart meds. He had no energy, and generally felt poorly. Then he decided he needed to try something natural and after consulting with an herbalist started taking cayenne.. Today he can run several miles, ride a horse all day long, and generally acts more healthy than most men half his age. But again, I would need to know specifics of the "disease" to be able to make any recommendations other than good nutrition. After all, we are what we eat!!

You mentioned fatigue. Fatigue is merely a symptom, NOT a disease in and of itself. Chronic fatigue is generally caused by a high-fat and refined carbohydrate diet, along with emotional stress. The meds you are taking are very likely only making matters worse!! You should make sure to get adequate rest, exercise, and a well balanced diet. It probably wouldn't hurt to take a high quality multi-vitamin (get something from a health food store - NOT Walmart!). As far as herbal goes, wheatgrass and gensing (again, health food store!) should help..

As for cracking in the corners of your mouth, this is known as cheilosis - and a root cause is a lack of vitamin B2. Again, the multivitamin should help, but it might not hurt to take an extra supplement of B2. Make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. Don't use commercial lip balms - instead use either cocoa butter, or better yet make your own lip balm from one of the two following recipies:

(A)Mix 30 drops of lavender essential oil, 16 drops of sandalwood essential oil, and 2 oz cocoa butter.

(B)Using a small dish in a pan of boiling water, melt 1 Tbsp beeswax, and stir in 3 Tbsp olive oil. Pour into small containers with tight fitting lids (like Carmex jars).

As for poor appetite - again, a symptom - NOT a disease in and of itself. Your assessment is right, the meds you are on are probably the biggest cause; but heavy metal poisoning, nutritional deficiencies, depression, or stress can also be culprits. I don't know of anything herbal to recommend, but a few things you can do (besides getting weaned from the snake venom and monkey pus the doctor has you on) are: *Don't drink liquids immediately before a meal (they fill the stomach, and you don't want anything else) *Eat smaller meals, but more of them (and eat quality foods) *Get outside and walk after meals (the great outdoors has many benefits including fresh air and sunlight - both of which are vital to good health)

And finally for the immune system. Once again the biggest destroyer is your damned doctor and the crap he/she has you on!! And once again, the best cure is to get weaned off the meds, and start eating healty wholesome meals. The multi-vitamin supplement should help, and you need to make sure to get plenty of exercise in the great outdoors...

And one last thing - this isn't something people would ever want to admit, but the truth is 95% of the American population has parasites!! Yep, we're loaded with "worms"!! The range of symptoms from parasite infestation are almost beyond belief, WAY too many to POSSIBLY try to list here. I would highly recommend that you do a good "deworming" program. The 2 best I can recommend are: (A)A teaspoon of diometacious earth sprinkled on your food, and (B)A concoction made up by the following recipe:

Fill a pint jar half-full with black walnut hulls, and pour just enough vodka over them to cover them. Let this sit for 3 weeks, and then take 1 tablespoonful daily. (Caution - this is gonna taste nasty!!!)

Hope this helps!!! BUT ABOVE ALL - YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO TAKE ARATOR'S ADVICE, AND GET OFF THE DAMNED PHARMACEUTICALS!!!!

the problem lies in nutrition (our food lacks nutrition because the soils are depleted of humus and excessive use of fertilizers and ag chemicals) and taking proper supplements.

Toxicity could also be a factor since we are all full of poisons created by the chemical companies and also the chemicals used in agriculture and in the foods we eat.

The problem of a healthy diet goes back again to the lack of good farming practices. The chemical paradigm is the worst thing to happen to agriculture.

BINGO!!!!!! I don't think there is anything in a commercial grocery store that is fit for human consumption!!! No matter how much work is involved, the best thing to do is grow your own garden, and do it organically!!

And I can't stress enough the importance of GOOD water. Forget the bottled stuff, it's subject to have the flouride and crap in it too. You may as well drink straight tap water if you're gonna pay for the bottled stuff. I highly recommend a Berkey!! Since I started using a Berkey, I've found that it's the only thing that truly quenches my thirst!!

there's a lot of great advice on this thread, and a couple really good links too.

I agree with Arator, Whoknowswhatevil, lodwick & innieway. and Ferret is too slim and strong for his age - I'm going to alert Sheriff Joe and he's going to send some people up to Oregon to stop him from making me look bad.

Obviously though if the drugs are treating existing conditions that have to be dealt with you might not be able to just get off them. but it might be worth considering getting rid of some of them at least. all of them if possible.

I'd recommend eliminating coffee if you drink a lot of it. Coffee in excess can be really bad. Lots of coffee causes dehydration which is very bad for your health. Drink lots of water - water therapy treats any condition and prevents health problems. Green tea is a good substitute to coffee. In the morning I put some green tea bags in water and nuke it in microwave, then I dump lots of ice in for iced tea. It is much better than coffee.

change up your diet - eat as much as possible things that actually grow from the earth with no processing at all. and drink lots of water.

Plenty of black walnuts out here. Maybe I will try this, but I try to avoid alcohol if possible.

I have a big ol black walnut tree right outside my back door, and it's always loaded...

The vodka is used in many herbal remedies, as it soaks the desired "goodie" out of the base ingredient. And this tiny amount of alcohol you'll be ingesting won't hurt. In fact, you sure won't taste the vodka... You can soak garlic cloves in vodka for about an hour and taste the vodka - it'll taste like garlic oil.

Thanks, it isn't really that many on a good bike at speed. I'll do a fast 30 in the morning three times a week and tomorrow is usually my 60 miler to Cottage Grove doing the hilly route there and the flatter one along I-5 back.

Tuesday and Thursday I ride with the club in the fast group made up mostly of ex racers like me and we do 40-50 mile routes depending on the group consensus.

I ride for transportation and that usually adds up pretty fast as Eugene has gotten spread out and though we have a better bike path system then almost anywhere else in the United States a ride to Lane Community College round trip is around 18 miles if I do the short route with the hill.

I have several top quality bikes, but my favorite kitten is a Ferrari red Cinelli with Campagnolo Chorus components that cost me about 3000.00.

Italian race bikes are the royalty of race bikes, and Masi and Cinelli are the creme de la creme of that country's manufacturers. I consider it a part of my body, I am naked if I don't have a bicycle with me.

It is a 1988 which is heavier with only eight cogs in the back, but people with newer, lighter bikes (which I also have) flag me down to get a moment enjoyment of ogling my sweet piece of Italian eye candy.

That particular design of bike has been made by Cinelli since the 1930s. They stopped making them a few years ago when they introduced the current modern design, but the outcry of anguish and rage was so incredible, Cinelli apologized and now you can buy the frame again for a mere 1300 dollars.

The lugs and bottom bracket (crank housing) are castings, and it takes many man hours to get an even gage throughout the lug/BB to get the right heat distribution to get a superior brazing job. The tubing is chamfered and mitered so tightly you can't get rice paper between the tube when held together before final manufacture.

Ounce for ounce a Rolls Royce has nothing on my sweetheart.

In the morning I put some green tea bags in water and nuke it in microwave, then I dump lots of ice in for iced tea.

Is the green tea doing any good if you're causing more harm than good with a "nuker"???

We use the term "nuke" when talking about microwave ovens kinda loosely, but maybe we should take it more seriously!!

After the World War II, the Russians experimented with microwave ovens. From 1957 up to recently, their research has been carried out mainly at the Institute of Radio Technology at Klinsk, Byelorussia. According to US researcher William Kopp, who gathered much of the results of Russian and German research - and was apparently prosecuted for doing so (J. Nat. Sci, 1998; 1:42-3) - the following effects were observed by Russian forensic teams:

1. Heating prepared meats in a microwave sufficiently for human consumption created:

* d-Nitrosodiethanolamine (a well-known cancer-causing agent)

* Destabilization of active protein biomolecular compounds

* Creation of a binding effect to radioactivity in the atmosphere

* Creation of cancer-causing agents within protein-hydrosylate compounds in milk and cereal grains;

2. Microwave emissions also caused alteration in the catabolic (breakdown) behavior of glucoside - and galactoside - elements within frozen fruits when thawed in this way;

3. Microwaves altered catabolic behavior of plant-alkaloids when raw, cooked or frozen vegetables were exposed for even very short periods;

4. Cancer-causing free radicals were formed within certain trace-mineral molecular formations in plant substances, especially in raw root vegetables;

5. Ingestion of micro-waved foods caused a higher percentage of cancerous cells in blood;

6. Due to chemical alterations within food substances, malfunctions occurred in the lymphatic system, causing degeneration of the immune system=s capacity to protect itself against cancerous growth;

7. The unstable catabolism of micro-waved foods altered their elemental food substances, leading to disorders in the digestive system;

8. Those ingesting micro-waved foods showed a statistically higher incidence of stomach and intestinal cancers, plus a general degeneration of peripheral cellular tissues with a gradual breakdown of digestive and excretory system function;

9. Microwave exposure caused significant decreases in the nutritional value of all foods studied, particularly:

* A decrease in the bioavailability of B-complex vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E, essential minerals and lipotrophics

* Destruction of the nutritional value of nucleoproteins in meats

* Lowering of the metabolic activity of alkaloids, glucosides, galactosides and nitrilosides (all basic plant substances in fruits and vegetables)

* Marked acceleration of structural disintegration in all foods.

I don't own one, and wouldn't have one in my house... And many restaurants use them, which is another reason why I'm not particularly fond of eating out.

Is this for detox, as well? I try to get plenty of garlic into my diet, but I am not familiar with this...

Like I was saying, vodka is used in the making of a lot of tinctures in home remedies... It soaks the oils and other "goodies" right out of the herb or whatever, and makes it into a "concentrate". Use just enough vodka to barely cover the herb or whatever, and let it stand for several weeks... I was merely pointing out how quickly it begins to work in that in only an hour all you can taste is the garlic. To make it medicinally potent, it's best to let it "cure" for several weeks. Then it's usually strained, and the vodka/oil is what is used.

And, unlike using chelation therapy, this zeolite will not remove calcium or other beneficial minerals, which have to be replaced.

i want this info too please.

Heh, that is a low price too. You can spend 5000 to 7000 dollars on a bicycle. I want a Maverick American ML7 which will be in that price range to build up (the frames are over 2000 alone) and it is the finest mountain bike ever designed and manufactured.

http://www.maverickamerican.com/

Being a road racer and tourist all my life I have never ever owned a suspension framed machine. That will be my first. It is an American design, and no suspension bicycle has ever been designed so well, though other manufacturers have been paying to use their innovative designs.

As for being careful, why th heck do you think I relocated back to Eugene from Portland, Oregon in the first place? ;-)

Ten percent of people in Eugene go to work on bicycles and bicycles are more common here then anywhere else I've been to in the United States. We have more bike shops then the Portland and Portland is a huge bike center too.

The thing I hate about Portland is that the growth of bicycling has exploded so much in PDX, there is a war between cars and bikes right now. It can be dangerous up there.

In one incident I had a large old American car try to hit me deliberately twice, the second time a passenger tried to open the door on me because they didn't like my California stop on the designated bike route I was on.

I was on a quality mountain bike and hopped the curb, rode up the sloping lawn of the house there and did a fast reverse and dented a tail-light fin with my numb-chucks which hook together and look like a bicycle pump.

I got three dents in before they gave up and quit the field of battle. I am no one to fuck with. If someone thinks I am an easy target on a bicycle, they are a fool.

In any event, I prefer safer Eugene to Portland as it is already too much extra weight to have to carry a quality set of locks, never mind the ordinance I was carrying up there.

Not sure about Mr. Turtle, but I do. MAKE REAL SURE they can be consumed...the oils that I take internally have a 'Supplement Facts' label on them, whereas the ones designated for diffusion or other external purposes do NOT. However, I am not sure that is an industry-wide standard. Be VERY CAREFUL with this...even oils applied to the skin can cause a lot of pain if not mixed with a diffusing oil...take it from one who has made such unpleasant errors in the past.

Yes, Austin is a huge bike town too. They have a 'Bicycles not Bombs' branch there which is much of the same mindset as 'Food not Bombs.'

We get Austin people here occasionally and every one I've met are awed by our bicycle path system and always say they wish it was as bicycle friendly in Texas.

Lance Armstrong is a rock star here. You don't get a "Lance who?" response to his name or image here. He would draw a major crowd and the full media attention if he showed up in Eugene. The Tour de France gets page one coverage here, and local races always draw a major crowd.

If you guys ever get tired of Lance, by all means, send him here. We would dearly love a local like him around.

*Mine also has health benefits. If you don't believe it, try giving it a spin for a few miles one day. The next day you'll discover muscles you didn't know you had.

*You don't need a license to ride it.

*You never have to stop at a gas station.

*It doesn't add to the environmental pollution problem.

But there are some notable differences too. Among them are:

*Mine weighs 1200 lbs more.

*Mine is capable of auto-pilot, which could be handy in the event that for some reason you are incapacitated and unable.

*Mine is very much less restricted in where you can go.

Our lives with horses are rich with feeling. If you've ever... choked back tears watching a new foal wobble to his feet for the first time... or watching your good horse wobble to his feet after surgery... or seen the ends of the reins float straight out as a reining horse spins beneath them... or chuckled to yourself as you watched a tiny tot on a patient pony trot through a barrel pattern at a saddle club playday... or felt the building tremble as an eight-up hitch of feather-legged giants towed a hand-carved beer wagon into the arena... or had your heart stop when you saw your horse lying motionless in the pasture on a sunny day -- and waited breathlessly to see an ear flicker... or cheered at the screen when The Man From Snowy River slid Dunnie down the mountainside, or when Seabiscuit made his final surge to best War Admiral... or cruised along the highway and seen a horse in the pasture and wondered what he's like to ride... or pictured him as a prospect... or sucked in your breath as a horse and rider approached a six-foot wall... or sworn a solemn oath to your horse that together you would triumph... or flipped through the TV channels and stopped when you saw a horse... even when it was a commercial... or laughed aloud when you rubbed your horse's face and he rubbed back... or gotten chills hearing Dave Johnson's "...and DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME!" (Or "Run For The Roses" circa 1980 ish?) or stood in awe at your horse in morning play as he sprinted around the pasture, then stopped, head erect, and snorted defiance at the rest of the world... or been thankful to see wild horses grazing casually at the foot of a hill... or felt calmed by the sleekness of a silky haircoat beneath your hand... or felt your jaw drop as you watched a Lipizzan perform a capriole... or if you've ever seen someone in the grocery store wearing a certain kind of hat or boots or buckle, or have a certain cut and length to their jeans... and felt some remote kind of connection... or felt warmed by a soft-nicker greeting you as you entered the barn... If you've ever been moved by any of these feelings, then you've seen the awesome power of God's creations.

I have had experience with people who have that sort of competitive personality. Steve Prefontaine used to live down the street from me and owned a gold MGB (the car he crashed and died of suffocation in).

Mom bought an MG Midget and was off at the office and driving the Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser. Steve gave a quick knock on the screen door the week she got it and said hi as he walked in without an invite. He commented on the Midget and scooped up the keys on the table in the dining room and said he was going to try it and that he'd be right back. Me and my brother had not said yes or no, he just grabbed the keys and drive off with it.

I called Mom and told her and there was silence at her end for a minute. All she said was, "call me when he comes back." I did and put him on the phone.

All they did was talk for half an hour about sports cars. After that, Mom would tell everyone who broached the topic of her car with pride that Steve Prefontaine himself had driven her car. Go figure.

I was on the road in Connecticut when the news about his death came. I barely made it to the side of the road to stop I was so grieved. We sure miss him here in Eugene. He too was a great man, a firebrand, a trend setter and a free independent spirit.

We were lucky and blessed to have him. I sure miss him.

Thanks for the CelticSeaSalt information - I see that our local WholeFoods stores carry it.

You are killing me here today...my wife and I LOVE 'Whole Foods' markets; everyone should shop there, if you are fortunate enough to have one nearby. (Click here to find out.)

While living in the Upper Connecticut River valley; we would travel 240 miles ROUND TRIP just to shop at the Whole Foods market in Hadley, Mass. (The only reason I would visit that sewer.) Shopping there is almost a religious experience for those of us who don't have local access to one. I just found one in Greenville SC (coincidentally; home of my favorite chicken wing/cold beer establishment), and am more than willing to make the trip just to shop there. For some odd reason, there is NO ACCESS to any establishment selling nutrional/healthy FOOD in East Tennessee. No wonder the medical cartel rules this area with an iron fist.

Feeling tired and loss of appetite without a concomitant loss in weight and poor immune system - have you been tested for hypothyroidism? You need a physician to administer the tests - TSH and Free T3 and Free T4 levels.

There are other symptoms of hypothyroidism which you may or may not have - hair breaking or some hair loss, pale dry skin, outside edges of eyebrows thinning, nails not growing or splitting if they do grow, consistently low body temperature than normal, cold intolerance, constipation, memory loss.

One thing I learned way back from my HomeEc teacher mom, was that if you want some product stocked in a store, go to the manager and ask for it. Here in Austin, the "organic" sections of the groceries seem to be growing daily as more people are learning of the crap that's in many of our food-stuff, and are willing to pay a bit more for better quality product.

Few people realize just how amazing the feats those magnificent beauties perform really are. They make it look so simple and natural in their "road shows".

If cost were no object, it would be a lot easier for me to name the very few breeds I wouldn't care about owning, rather than the ones I would.. I'd love to have a Cleveland Bay, Friesan, Salerno, and of course a Shire... BTW, the largest horse ever on record was a Shire named Samson - he measured 21.2 hh, and weighed 3360 lbs!!!

I use the lavender for surface wounds.

I use the peppermint, a drop in a glass of water, if I have a queasy stomach.

The lemon I mostly use for cleaning all kinds of things -- a drop in the dishwater, bath, cleaning furnitive.

A little of all of them go a long way.

Best thing for that, probably, is wormwood.

DO NOT USE THE ESSENTIAL OIL. It's poisonous, not to mention unbearably bitter.

Tea's fine. Just type "wormwood parasites" into Google and you'll get all kinds of info.

Commercial grade lemon and orange oil are great for furniture as well as stainless steel surfaces, I learned way back while working for PizzaInn. FWIW

Lemon makes things smell good and it disinfects. Great for wood, too. I put a couple of drops in a water spritzer, and it goes a long, long way.

I use the lavender for surface wounds.

I have another use for lavender...combine a few drops with a mixing oil, and massage it into your wife/girl friend's back. Two essential steps: make sure the phone is off the hook, and your kids are nowhere around (preferably a friend/relative's house).

Lavender smells great, and it drives women nuts.

Check out a lavender cologne called Puig.

I "googled" it, but I'm a bit confused. The Quorum? The splash? The unisex one? Inquiring minds, and all that...

They're all nice, but I just liked the plain old cologne. It tends to be a bit expensive, but on the Internet you can find some pretty inexpensive prices on it.

Hi Cappy! I read an article about the sides of the mouth being cracked and/or chapped, and they say this is often caused by too much yeast in the system. Yeast can also make a person feel very tired, and some people, especially if their immune system is not up to par can have this condition. Most people associate yeast with vaginal yeast infections, but men can have this condition too, often it will reside in the intestines and other parts of the body.

You can buy those healthy bacterias (can't think of what they are called now) that are healthy for the gut and keep yeast in check. In Europe they used to sell small bottles of this in their grocery stores, and I'm sure you can find it in health food stores near where you live. They sell it in pill form, but the liquid form works better as the bacteria survive longer in liquid.

I just saw this thread and have not read it yet, perhaps someone else has already written about this, but it wouldn't hurt to buy some of this stuff and see if it does not help clear up the problem.

This might sound gross, but you could also buy over the counter yeast infection cream and put dabs of it on the sides of your mouth before going to bed, and that would most likely help clear up the cracking at the sides of the mouth.

I am often tired too, and will have to start working full time soon. It's tough to always feel tired, and have to deal with a family and a job, that in itself is enough to wear a person out. Good luck to you, I am sure there will be many helpful hints in this thread, maybe I'll run across some info on fatigue as I need to increase my energy level as well.

yeast

Probiotics is the remedy for yeast infections. There are many good products.

The idea is to populate your gut with the good bacteria. These bacteria then keep the bad bacteria, such as Candida, under control. But you have to keep up with it since our diets do not give us what we need to keep the good bacteria thriving. Also, taking drugs and antibiotics will kill the good bacteria and allow the yeast to take hold.

#155. To: CAPPSMADNESS, all women here (#2)

Another thing, I don't know how old you are, though it seems I've heard you're one of the babies here.

It's now known that when women reach their late 30s (don't know if you are there yet), their bodies don't produce as much progesterone as they once did. This can cause fatigue, PMS, insomnia, grouchiness, and weight gain. Many women in their 40s are affected by this, and they now have bio-identical natural progesterone cream that you simply rub on your skin (anywhere on your body where there is thin skin) and it soaks in and helps to relieve some of those symptoms.

This past year I started having problems with insomnia, and occasional bad moods and such, and I found a pharmacy in Anchorage that has bio-identical hormones that they compound, so you know the stuff is fresh and an exact dose. I started using their progesterone cream and it has helped somewhat with the insomnia and other things. They now make bio-identical estrogen too, but most women don't need that until after menopause, and many women decide they don't want to use any hormones.

You can buy progesterone cream over the counter, they probably have that at health food stores also. Some brands are better than others, many are just as good as the natural bio-identical progesterone compounded at pharmacies.

The pharmaceutical hormones, such as progestin and premarin are not natural to our bodies, and many women can't take those as they cause too many unwanted side effects. For instance I was never able to take birth control pills. In order for the pharmaceutical companies to make a profit on women's hormones, they have to change the molecular structure somewhat in order to have a patent. The big pharms don't like compounding pharmacies as they make natural hormones which women's bodies soak right up and use correctly, because they are a competition to their adulterated hormones which aren't as good since they tend to have the side effects.

However the natural progesterone has no bad side effects, is easy to use and is also amazingly cheap. There is information on the internet about this, along with brands that are good, the progesterone has to be in a cream that makes it absorb in the body, and the expiration date is very short, so these are important factors when choosing a brand to use.

I've got blond hair and blue eyes, and the last time I saw the doctor (in the winter) he tested the Vitamin D in my blood and told me I had only half what I should have. He told me to take cod liver oil during the winter. So I did, and the change in how I feel during the winter has been very noticeable.

There's very little sun here now and many people in this area don't have enough vitamin D. I know they sell vitamin D pills, but I wonder if it's best to take it in the form of cod liver oil??

It's the quickest and least-tasty way.

Otherwise, fish like salmon is the best. I use cod liver oil in the winter, as much as I hate it, but in the summer I get 20 minutes of sun a day and eat fish.

Just a reminder that at 9:30 PM EST (I would call in at least 5 minutes before) Dr. Burba will be conducting his VIBE overview call.

If you have Questions for him you can email them to him at burba@fone.net but I would try to get them in to him by 7 PM EST.

The Number for the 9:30 PM EST Call is 1-712-338-8100 PIN: 33767#

Already with the new VIBE 2.0 I strongly agree with others that the flavor is much better when it is added to water or a juice.

So, if you have not yet ordered your VIBE 2.0 Bottle/Box or Bottles and you do not have a sponsor/upline go to: https://www.enivamembers.com/?ID=286225.

Also, from the nanotechnology people who brought you the Energy Enhancer patch, we have the Skin Care system which has a Glutathione patch that is the master anti-oxidant and detoxifier. It recycles Vitamin C and E, CoQ10 and CoA.

You can see more here: http://www.lifewave.com/nanopower19

You can watch the short video if you choose or just click the button to be taken to the page. I urge any and all of you who read this to take the opportunity and try the patches.

IceWave is a pain control patch, and I am trying that one myself (paid) since I have not as yet.

Rest Quiet is the sleep patch which works well for me and even helps with snoring and will make you dream, vividly even.

The Energy patch is still a good deal, and I have some good personal testimonials about it.

Only new people can get the free sample, so if you are already a member, you cannot get it. (Sorry, Lod. Use the free sample thingy to send some friends to your site to get theirs.)

And don't forget to check out the Vibe information.

I was on the call last night with Dr. Burba and it was very enlightening.

Here is a list of things you can do to share Vibe with others, 7 Easy Steps for Sharing VIBE.

And there are a few phone number with info and conference call numbers, like last night, there as well.

yes, your mouth is cracked and bleeding due to a vitamin c deficiency, also called scurvy.

try either dr. raths vita c forte with vitacorp plus, which is the best, or get alacer triple gram III and take several thousand milligrams a day. if the amt you take never causes diaherreah, then you are using it up pretty much. so you cant take too much.

good luck.
