NORTH VANCOUVER - A North Vancouver couple has complained to District of North Vancouver council and said they will sue the North Vancouver RCMP after officers responded to their hang-up 911 call by breaking down their door, making a forceful arrest and jailing them overnight when the couple refused to allow a house-search.

The RCMP said, however, that in this case, federal policy commands a home-check, designed to ensure public safety.

North Vancouver resident Marget Lieder said that in the early evening of Oct. 25 she was having wine with her partner and a guest when she misdialed the emergency number, meaning to call 411 instead. After promptly hanging up, the police contacted her, saying two officers were dispatched and warned her her home would be searched to confirm she wasn't in danger.

"I don't want my privacy to be invaded just because I misdial a number," she said. Once the officers arrived, she only spoke to them on her porch, refusing entrance. "They didn't have a search warrant and they didn't have anything to do in my house."

She insisted she had nothing to hide and there was no cause for distress. Three more officers arrived shortly after, broke down the door and arrested Lieder and her partner, Larry Pierce, for obstruction of justice, she said.

"I was sitting on the couch. They stuck a Taser in my face, threatening me with 50,000 volts," said Pierce, a well-known lawyer. "They threw me on the floor, twisted my left arm. A police officer stuck his knee into my ribs and jumped on me." Later he found out that his two ribs were cracked, recalled Pierce. The couple said the officers began taping them right away even though their rights weren't read until they were in the car. Once in jail, Pierce remembered he was interrogated for over an hour.

North Vancouver RCMP Const. John MacAdam said police are obliged to search the premises after a hang-up 911 call. Pierce maintained his rights were violated and he will go ahead with a lawsuit.

How much will Americans put up with? One police for every one thousand law abiding citizens? Every one hundred? Every Five?

When will Americans insist that police not harrass and abuse law-abiding citizens?

I think the smaller towns are better equipped to deal with the bastards. Before I moved to Indy I used to pride myself on knowing all the local narcs.

That's about what the ratio is now in the little town where I live...

There is a little town near here with maybe 150 people. The town usually relied on the county for service. Then somehow they got funding to hire two cops. One of them sat in front of the local quick mart and was calling in tag numbers of every car that pulled up.

He did this every Saturday for a couple months, and then we took a ride over there with my pickup with the Private Property tags on it and sure enough, the jerk was there just like my buddy told me. I pulled up and went inside and when I came out wouldn't you know it, Barney was standing in front of the pickup and he asked if this was my vehicle.

I told him it was my private property and what didn't he understand about the fact it was none of his business. He got a little perturbed at my response and asked to see my license. I told him he had no authority to even request such a document since the property was not registered with the Dept. of Revenue, which means he had no jurisdiction.

He told me I was breaking the law, and I told him he was violating the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and provisions of the Missouri Constitution plus other laws and statutes if he intended to proceed in the manner he indicated. Thankfully, the idiot was so perplexed that he said to get out of town. I said I would be glad to since if this was the way they treated folks here I did not wish to be here and away I went.

I guess it was lucky that the other cop in town did not show up. But I have a feeling that the county broke in beforehand and told him they knew about me and to leave me alone. He must have decided to try to hassle me on his own, and it backfired on him.

A similar incident happened in the town I lived outside of when one of the new guys in town spotted my tags and got in behind me. I turned off to see my mechanic and he kept going. I figure the radio calls went like this,

The word was out about me and it was not uncommon for me to have a county squad come up behind me on the way into town and keep going when I turned, or to see a city kitty and they just wave to me and keep going.

This case was in Canada. But yes it is as bad and worse here in the states as well. But as Americans we are fairly stupid, we allowed this to get out of hand here, in the "land of the free" (we are free to bend over, but there is a charge for vaseline!!), and now it is getting just as bad in other countries. It is going to take far more than a few Americans to stand up to solve this problem. We SHOULD have put our foot down when the problem was little, now the powers that be are so used to trampling on our rights, I am afraid that it will take a massive show of force, by more than a few people, to change the current trend of things!!!

Yes, it is, BUT you have to find a camera that will put you in front of an audience. The powers that be have such a strangle hold on the media, that is hardly possible!!

Can you please explain this?

You have to start off by having a UCC-1/Financing Statement/Security Agreement/Indemnity Bond filed.

For an application, http://btpholdings.com/secagree.pdf Be aware that the mailing address on the PDF is incorrect and I would need to give you an updated one on PM.

Basically, when you register your property with the gov't, you give them the interest in it, i.e. its representation on paper, the Manufacturer's Statement of Origin in the case of a car or truck, etc. Now the state is the holder. And they use what is called your "pledge" of the property as collateral to get credit from the bankers to operate. They are using your property without telling you and that is fraud and a taking under the 5th Amendment.

The state can NEVER perfect its interest, but you can with the filing of your Security Agreement. Then, you have the Priority interest, even in your name or any other property you list in the filing. All others must now wait in line to make a claim.

I hope this helps a bit. There is more to this especially with the endemic corruption in the system. What it amounts to is they have tricked us all into the license and registration schemes and have turned our rights into priveleges under the freedom to contract provisions of the constitution.

We use an Affidavit of Commercial Notice to terminate those license and registration contracts by demanding the state pay us for the use of the property (they never will) or the contract is void ab initio for Failure of Fair Consideration.

The correct way to expatriate is to end those relationships and expatriate the property you have pledged with gov't and regain your status as a free man.

BTW, a major legal nexus in this scheme is the Social Security scam. The gov't (courts) operate under the presumption you are receiving benefits. Terminating that application is a major step toward getting out of their corrupt system.

What? You say you cannot open a bank account without the number or get a job? Who needs their banks and funny money anyway. Operate in cash or precious metals. And if you need a job, and want to keep the number, there are ways to get around the plundering of your earnings. That is for another thread.

BINGO!!!!!

Our RIGHTS are given to us by GOD (as acknowledged in the Constitution), NOT by the Constitution itself nor man!!! And when you give up those rights in favor of "priveleges" granted by the state you have in essence put the state ahead of the Creator - made the state your god!!! (you PAY for that license, or ship worth, which is what the compound word worship comes from; you are worshipping the state!!!)..... Isn't this a violation of the First Commandment????? Come on Christians - WAKE UP!!!

No absurdity is so palpable but that it may be firmly planted in the human head if you only begin to inculcate it before age five, by constantly repeating it with an air of great solemnity. - Arthur Schopenhauer

#23. To: ladybug. anyone who's ever misdialed 911 (#14)

At least here in Austin, anytime that 911 is dialed, the city cops must respond: when I stupidly misdialed, and immediately hung up the phone, the system dispatched one of the APD's finest to investigate.

From command central here, I could see a uniformed officer lurking up to the front door of casita lodwick, and thought to myself, "Well, crap. I'll go tell him it was a misdial and that will be the end of that."

Not so.

This genius would not take my word that it was a mistake, and that all was well, and told me that he had to investigate to be sure that I had not slaughtered Mrs.L or whatever his little pinhead was imagining might have happened.

So we started through the crime scene with the cop's hand on his weapon, peeking around corners, as he went room to room - after the second bedroom, I began telling him that he'd missed a closet where there might be a body, then I suggested that he failed to look under a bed, then I pointed out that the drop-down stair access to our attic would be a fine place to hide a stiff.

At this point, he said in a whiny voice, "You're making fun of me."

I told him that if didn't take me at my word that I had misdialed, and was treating me as some sort of criminal suspect, that I had to treat him as a moron in his poor investigation.

He left without ever finding a body...and that's my 911 story.
