This article demonstrates that Lou Dobbs is an idiot or extremely naive.

Look Lou, Calvin Coolidge wasn't blowing smoke up our asses when he said "The Business of America is Business". That's what the most important Americans hold as the core mantra of their raison d'etre. Don't kid yourself that politicians at any level really give a rat's ass about your job. They only care about their job and their immediate family. There is no altruistic concern for their constituents. They do care to the extent that they want to get re-elected and will say whatever it takes for that to happen.

Lou's correct that the Dems and GOP don't change the economic policy. They change laws that affect taxation and that affects me by raising my property taxes, phasing out tax breaks while giving me new ones. In the end I pay just a little more overall in taxes but the illusion of a tax break is enough for some to believe that one or the other party is 'on their side'.

When a politician says that they care about 'the unborn', 'the poor', the 'overburdened tax payer' it's all bulls**t. They are only saying what will keep them in office. It's not the office in itself that's important, it's the side benefits that they reap from the payoffs, bribes, gifts, connections and post term jobs that they will be able to get. It's not about the constituents it's about who pays them the most when they are asking for money. If serving your country in congress was a job that provided a daily stipend that did not exceed the cost of 3 meals and the cost of a room at a Marriot. That didn't allow you come in with or leave with any more money in your personal accounts that wasn't accounted for by inheritance then you might get a few honest men and women in that august body. Until then your going to get the criminals, perverts, miscreants and liars that populate DC.

Until Lou grows up and realizes that the elites in this country have never thought of this country as a great and noble experiment in democracy, the way that those that strive to create a little bit of something for themselves and their family from nothing. But that elites look on this land and "US" as nothing but the ends to their means.

I've had a woody on for lou Dobbs ever since this came out:

Dobbs: Populist tide has elitists running scared

It cuts a little too close to home and so the messenger must be demonized.

The author needs to take a ride in this:

Here's the Lou Dobbs thread here:

Sometimes I agree with Lou, sometimes not. But he's brought back an honored American tradition: The populist rant. His fixation on Arthur Anderson almost saved that company, and he was proven right WAY TOO LATE when that company's conviction was overturned. One stinking office with 200 employees brought down a massive international company. And most of the 20,000 who lost their jobs in Chicago were secretaries, backoffice people, ordinary middle class folks.

Lou used to be a typical corporate hack. I like the new version, even when he goes overboard, which he IS doing on a meaningless fence on the border. That fence, if they ever pay for it, will look like a gopher burrow there will be so many tunnels under it.

I'm no longer for the fence, it's starting to look like it is for keeping us in. But, they do need to go after the employers of illegals, and enforce the laws we do have on the books.

The Israeli firm that won the border control/fence contract does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

How ironic. We noted in August that ex-Israeli security chief Uza Dayan was warning the US against emulating Israeli strategies in securing the Mexican border. Now it appears that Elbit Systems, an Israeli firm which is building the "Aparthied Wall" in occupied Palestine, has been awarded a contract, along with Boeing, to build the wall on the Mexican border. I'm for a real fence, for real sanctions on employers, realtors, and anyone else who gives aid, comfort, or assistance to these invaders.

I read about how they built that. Every family had to offer up a sacrficial wall builder every so often. It is BTW, a large graveyard, they threw everything inbetween those two outside walls; the center is dirt, rocks, bones, whatever they could find in the area.

Very interesting - thanks.

Hoover Dam is quite a graveyard itself...surely, we could do better today.

Look at the wall that Israel is building - that is a real barrier going up over there.
