All in all, the mexicans have it right - put it up and leave it up year-round.

Why do we do all this stuff? It's certainly not Biblical or Scriptural in any sense of the Word. God never told us to celebrate anyone's birthday...

This is my least favorite time of the year as I watch people descend into consumer madness buying crap for their family and friends.

Indeed, not only were we not instructed to do these things, but we were SPECIFICALLY told NOT to!

And I will not go into the complete details of Mithraism again (as I have before on here) but I will give you a good website to check out. It explains that the only thing that Christmas and christ has to do with each other is that thier names are similar. It is a hoax, it is the birthday of Mithra that we are celebrating in the name of Christ.

Jeremiah 10

1Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

2Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

"Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them."

We are dismayed by murder done because we do not believe Christain beliefs or other doctrine of other faiths.

Let the Blessings Be.

Christianianity and Mithraism were INCREDIBLY similiar when both religions existed, the biggest difference is that Mithraism did not allow women to worship.

RELIGION is the biggest problem we have, interpretations of what God supposedly MEANT to say instead of simply reading his laws as he laid them down for us. The Bible is nothing more than a law book, the only difference is that it is easier to understand than most law books!!

here is a good site comparing Mithraism to Christianity: http://www.truthbeknown.com/mithra.htm

"here is a good site comparing Mithraism to Christianity"

I am of Wicca, not the Persian religion Mithraism. I have never been a Christian. I was raised as a hostage made to go to a Christian Church, but I was never a buyer of the tenants of that faith. I respect your right to your religion, but I want no part of it. None whatsoever.

The baptism as a baby before informed consent is moot, I always spit out the Communion wafer into my hand and dumped it and invented things to say in confession.

It was a profound relief to grow old enough not to be bullied into attending someone else's church when I became a teenager.

I am definately NOT what you would call a christain. Christianity has such a broad meaning and includes many pracitices that I want absolutely no part of. Most people that that if you believe in God and the Bible that you are Christian, but that is not the case.

_Here is a short list of things that Christians do, that I do not:

_Eat pork, crab, lobster, shrimp, and other unclean animals

_celebrate Christmas

_Celebrate Easter

_Celebrate government "Holidays" (Thanksgiving, Fourth of July.....)

_Go to church on Sunday (we honor the Sabbath from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown)

_I do drink occassionally

_and many more

Seeing how these are things that your average Christian do, and I WILL NOT do them, then I cant be a Christian, I just try to follow God's laws as best as I know how

I do listen to George Gordon, but he is not what persuaded me, though I have learned some valuable things from his programs.

I listen to him because it is refreshing to hear someone speak plain, honest, understandable truth, and who follow God, not any Goddess or other entity (government included) that may come along and demand your worship. I am glad to know that there are other people out there like me.

We're here - and if others would really think about things honestly, we could get this country turned around.

We need to trust our instincts, and that still, small voice within us - instead of the raving yahoo's on the tellie - to tell us what is right, and what is to be done.

If every bouffant tellie-crappvangelist croaked on stage tomorrow, I would not think it a bad thing, at all...I don't necessarily wish it, but I would not lament it, either.

I have to agree with you there. but no matter how many get caught srewing some drug dealer in the kiester, or playing with a child, or cheating on thier wife, or simply croak; there will always be many more in line waiting to replace them.

Rightly so, there are so many pathetic "lost souls" needing hope, and willing to throw money at any kook on television that will give them any resemblance of hope through "salvation" or any other means that they do not have to work for

You cant really blame these "evangelists" I mean hell, all they need is a little charisma, and know how to read the Bible just enough to make what they have to say sound right, and they can be the reciever of all that cash that the pathetic want to throw at them.

But there is the root of the problem, so few people are willing to work for anything anymore. The overweight want a diet pill that will make them instantly thin, instead of working to get excercise and eat well. The sick will spend a fortune at the doctor for a pil to cure them instead of doing the research and finding the cause of thier problem. They would rather have that magic pill and deal with the side affects, which is remedied by more pills, which causes more side affects, which is remedied by more pills, which causes more side affects...

But this is easier than doin a little research to keep yourself truely healthy.

The same thing with politics, it is easierr to just accept what the media machine feeds you instead of doing your own research....

and if others would really think about things honestly, we could get this country turned around.

we could, but it takes WORK and RESEARCH and EFFORT to have the ability to think about things honestly, I am afraid that NONE of these virtues exists in the mainstream American culture.
