I wonder how much Showtime is getting paid by the government to produce this propaganda swill? We know that every branch of the military has Hollywood "liason" offices and that they have input on scripts, that movies they don't like don't get to use the big toys of the military.
Since the taboo of doing psy-ops domestically seems to have gone by the wayside and no one cares (DOD being caught in fake letter campaigns to home towns for "Frontline" troops- several stories about how "AQ in Iraq" is basically an overblown fraud and aimed at the America people)- I imagine the propaganda relationships between media and DOD are just becoming more blatant and formalized if not trumpeted.
All these ridiculous cop/fed worship shows on the Tee/Vee are idiotic propaganda- especially the ones that purport to be "Realistic" and "Gritty".
Young hipster beautiful people with stunning looks and stunning perfect bodies- working 120 hour weeks, often sleeping in the office (Law and Order), doing their utmost to get the bad guys- who are always guilty- using the latest technology- driving the best cars- wearing the latest fashions- and oh so moral and perfect and yet tenderly human when appropriate. Bleck- I can't watch them. The reality are fat unmotivated slobs- doing sloppy work- union protected, going after the guy who is most easy to make a case agaist- protecting each other with a mafia code of omerta- basically state workers but the ability to kill people and lock them up- in other words- the worst most dangerous part of any government.

I had to take a 24 hour drive over to Denver to see a specialist doctor. I left a day early and stayed in a Hotel the night before, went to the appointment, and just got back a few hours ago.
While waiting for checkout time I turned on the TV. I haven't turned mine on in the last 5 years except to watch a DVD* or fire up the playstation 2. Anyway, the first damn program I land on is a "made for TV movie" about the beltway snipers. Seeing as there are so few real terrorist attacks in the this country I guess FEDGOV has to keep the fear alive somehow.
Not that the miltiary should take all the blame for turning TV into a propaganda tool. Go watch the movies made about Waco and Ruby Ridge. There are about as truthful as a 1930's German film about German-Polish border disputes.
